Role Responsibilities

Help shape Alberta’s future by supporting the development of strategic economic corridors that connect key markets and drive long term economic growth. As a Senior Policy Advisor with TEC, you will provide focused analysis, policy insight, and cross government coordination to advance Alberta’s trade corridor network.

Key Responsibilities
 

  • Support development and advancement of priority economic corridors.
  • Conduct research, environmental scans, and data analysis to inform policy.
  • Contribute to industry intelligence tools and evidence based recommendations.
  • Provide policy advice on corridor planning, design, and strategic options.
  • Manage external contracts, including RFPs and deliverable oversight.
  • Coordinate cross ministry programs, planning processes, and stakeholder forums.
  • Build and maintain relationships with government and industry partners.
  • Prepare briefing notes, presentations, and recommendations for senior leadership.
  • Support team collaboration and occasionally act for the Manager.

Qualifications

Required:  University degree in Public Administration, Economics or related, PLUS 4 years related experience or equivalent as described

Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of 1 year of education for 1 year of experience, or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education

For Example:
Related 1 year certificate PLUS a minimum 7 years of experience
Related 2-year diploma PLUS a minimum 6 years of experience
Related minimum 8 years of experience.

The successful candidate MUST also have:

  • Strong policy research, analysis, and report writing skills, including the ability to develop clear recommendations.
  • Knowledge of Alberta’s economic corridors and related interprovincial trade routes.
  • Ability to work in fast paced environments and support high priority initiatives.
  • Strong political acumen and understanding of government decision making, issues management, and consensus building.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, problem solving, and relationship building abilities.

Assets:

  • Experience developing visuals for briefings or communications.
  • Familiarity with GIS technology, and/or Database analysis
  • Experience developing strategies, action plans, or supporting major initiatives.
  • Experience gathering and synthesizing diverse information sources into actionable insights.
