Role
TEC is looking for three (3) organized, ambitious, detail-oriented and collaborative professionals to support the ministry’s Economic Corridors Secretariat, which will be advancing a number of priorities with respect to the advancement of economic corridors.
Economic corridors connect two or more centers of economic activity (population centers, industry hubs, centers of production) through infrastructure, logistics, technology and policy. They can involve a broad range of infrastructure, including transportation, energy, power, telecommunications and other utilities. In addition to physical infrastructure, corridors include service markets and the coordination of regulations and policies across multiple jurisdictions and/or sectors.
The Senior Policy Analyst, Economic Corridors positions will support priority work regarding the development of economic corridors. This will include developing advice in collaboration with cross-divisional colleagues on next steps to advance economic corridors. The incumbents will also require well developed project management skills to coordinate the involvement of committees and other resources that may be supporting the Secretariat.
To be successful in this position, the Senior Policy Analysts also need to be strong writers with research experience and demonstrated analytical skills. The expectation is that the Senior Policy Analysts can work independently with minimal supervision.
As corridors may include different types of infrastructure, which may be used to move a variety of goods and services, and may stretch across multiples jurisdiction, these positions will also involve collaboration with Federal-Provincial-Territorial (FPT) counterparts, other ministries, and external stakeholders.
Significant programs, processes, and systems are in place across a number of Ministries that require integration and coordination (e.g., TEC’s Capital Planning Process, FPT forums, existing infrastructure priorities) to establish a unified economic corridors approach across government, and define a collective long-term vision for expanding corridors in Alberta and beyond.
The positions are expected to be able to work in a fast paced, high profile environment, and deliver clear and concise products under short timelines.
The positions report to the Manager, Economic Corridors and work closely with the Director, Economic Corridors Secretariat.
The successful candidates will excel in a collaborative team environment and will bring excellent communication skills (verbal and written), analytical skills, public engagement skills, and research experience to the team. Proficiency in MS Office Suites (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is also required.
