Role Responsibilities

Functionally reporting to the Manager, Engagement and Operations, in the Strategic Integration and Operations (SIO) Division's Operations and Administration Branch (OPA), the Senior Operations Advisor (Advisor) supports the manager to work with all of the areas of the ministry to coordinate internal/external engagement; manage projects associated with strategic priorities; and enhance Infrastructure's corporate culture by promoting a positive employee experience.  The Advisor provides proactive and strategic advice to support the department's goals and ensure alignment with broader government objectives, and ensures the ministry's business interests are represented.  The Advisor contributes to significant, high-level advice on divisional and corporate programs and policies, providing support in the development, implementation and interpretation of direction for the division through the assessment of emerging issues and the subsequent development of strategic responses.

 
OPA provides a number of support services to staff across the department to assist others in their work and is tasked with identifying opportunities and building collaborative solutions. The Advisor supports the manager and team in providing surge capacity to high priority, time sensitive and politically sensitive work, often working closely with the Assistant Deputy Minister’s office. This work would include support in the development, implementation and interpretation of direction through the assessment of emerging issues and the subsequent development of strategic responses.

Key responsibilities for the Senior Operations Advisor Programs include but are not limited to:

  • Supporting building strong relationships and collaborating with a broad range of stakeholders, including industry partners and industry associations through the Industry Liaison Committee (ILC) and associated subcommittees.
  • Identifying, tracking and responding to industry discussion items for the department to track and monitor critical stakeholder issues.
  • Leading the critical review of divisional briefings, using a high degree of political acumen, and working with the professional staff in supporting the ADMOs on strategic projects that are cross-divisional or cross-ministry in nature.
  • Supporting SIO ADMO to develop or review briefing notes and responses to action requests.
  • Leading the planning efforts in collaboration with internal teams to determine objectives, logistics, and implementation approaches.
  • Coordinating and implementing innovative and effective Infrastructure-targeted approaches to effectively onboard staff, support path-finding and development of Ministry information resources.
  • Maintaining a leadership role on significant program coordination items, collaborating with program areas, ADMO, DMO, and others to ensure processes are followed and timelines are met.

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts, Business, Public Administration or related discipline.
  • Four years of directly related experience.


Equivalency:

 

  • Related experience or education (e.g., related diploma) may be considered as an equivalency on a one-for-one basis.

 

Assets: 

  • Experience with ARTS/Microsoft Suite of Products/Sharepoint Online.
  • Experience writing briefing notes.
  • Project/event management.

Additional Position Details:

  • This position is a 1 – year Temporary Wage role with the standard weekly work hours of 36.25, Monday to Friday (8:15 am – 4:30 pm).
