The Strategy, Support and Integrated Initiatives division provides strategic and integrated policy and project services and functions for Justice. The division’s focus centers on cross-divisional and cross-ministry projects such as strategic policy initiatives, business transformations and Justice Digital.
Role Responsibilities
Are you an experienced analyst with demonstrated agility and a strong drive for results? The Ministry of Justice is seeking 2 Senior Strategic Initiatives Analysts and 1 Senior Regulatory Excellence Officer to support high-priority initiatives and provide expert advice to leadership.
Reporting to the Manager, Strategic Initiatives, the Senior Strategic Initiatives Analysts and the Regulatory Excellence Officer provide a range of services to the Executive Director's Office, the division, and ministry divisional stakeholders.
Senior Strategic Initiatives Analysts (2 positions):
- Provide support and coordination for strategic initiatives to divisions during all parts of the policy development process.
- Perform research as a basis for policy development and to ensure that strategic initiatives align with best practices.
- Promote, develop, and maintain effective communication and collaboration to ensure integration and a systems approach to policy development and implementation.
- Work collaboratively within the Strategic Initiatives unit and support the Manager in achieving unit and branch goals.
- Lead portfolios and strategic initiatives to ensure the ministries strategic business goals are being met or exceeded.
- Other duties as assigned by the Manager.
Regulatory Excellence Officer (1 Position):
- Provide analysis and recommendations to support the Ministry's red tape reduction agenda.
- Provide support for the evaluation and performance measurement of programs, policies, and strategies.
- Share best practices and promote awareness of the role of regulatory excellence and red tape reduction policies in the Ministry.
- Work collaboratively within the Strategic Initiatives unit and support the Director and Manager in achieving unit and branch goals.
- Manage and lead projects that support red tape reduction strategic outcomes and deliverables.
- Other duties as assigned by the Manager.
These positions require highly self-motivated individuals with sound judgment, interpretive, and communication skills, who will support and assist other divisions on strategic and red tape reduction initiatives by being quick to learn, having a positive approach, and being willing to shift and manage work priorities in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements for the Senior Strategic Initiatives Analysts:
- University graduation in a related field (political science, public administration, policy, business, etc.).
- At least four years of related experience (research, policy analysis and development, strategic planning, developing decision documents, project management, etc.).
Minimum Requirements for the Senior Regulatory Excellence Officer:
- University graduation in a related field (political science, public administration, economics, business, etc.).
- At least four years of related experience (red tape reduction, performance evaluation, policy analysis and development, data interpretation, project management, etc.).
Assets for both positions:
- Project management, coordination, and implementation planning experience.
- Policy research, analysis, or development experience.
- Experience writing reports, briefings, policy documents, cabinet reports, and/or presentations with recommendations to senior leadership.
- Experience with government systems, policy cycle, and policy approval processes.
- Experience supporting or leading engagement activities including drafting strategic engagement plans and developing engagement materials.
- Experience planning, leading, and facilitating meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
The following equivalencies may be considered:
- A related Masters plus a minimum of 2 years related experience.
- A related two-year diploma plus a minimum of 6 years related experience.
- A related one-year certificate plus a minimum of 7 years related experience.
- No post-secondary education plus a minimum of 8 years related experience.

- 3 Full time permanent positions located in Edmonton (Oxbridge Building).
- Hours of work: 7.25 hours per day / 36.25 hours per week (Monday – Friday).
