Role Responsibilities

Are you an individual who is passionate about the client experience, putting policy into practice by providing a range of services to support the effective and efficient delivery of the Government of Alberta’s Information Management (IM) program?  


We are currently looking to fill a vacancy in the role of Senior IM Programs Analyst. You will report to an IM Programs Manager in the IM Programs Unit, in the Enterprise Content Management Branch, Data and Content Management Division to support the delivery of Information Management services and projects to our client Ministries.  These services are all about the management of content (data, records, information, etc.), and are more about the useful applications and processes used to manage content, than about the technical configurations of applications and tools that are used to store content.  


As part of the centralized service, as Senior IM Analyst, you will play a key role in supporting clients to manage their information in alignment with established IM policy instruments, and will interface directly with clients at all levels across the organization.   You will also be expected to recommend strategies and approaches to further enhance the optimized delivery of the IM program. For example, you will be responsible for the analysis, evaluation, and implementation phases for a broad variety of IM initiatives, such as:

  • In-depth consultations with clients to assess business and related process changes with respect to their IM requirements.
  • Coaching and supporting department/program staff in the use of available tools, processes, and policy instruments, to ensure the effective, and compliant management of their information assets.
  • Delivering training sessions to address specific business challenges. 
  • Coordinating the activities of various teams that support the continued development, implementation, and enhancement of IM solutions offered to the departments 
  • Working directly on large scale, strategic information management projects that impact the GoA as a whole. 
  • Working on supporting the adoption of M365 (including SharePoint Online) as the Government’s defacto information management solution.
  • Leading reviews and risk assessments associated with technology development projects, ensuring that IM risks are identified and appropriately mitigated.



Other duties include:  

  • Supporting the GoA IM program. 
  • Supporting the IM Programs Manager, and Directors in achieving the mandate and goals of the IM Programs unit.
  • Supporting organizational change throughout the GoA by providing sound project management practices, consultation, coaching, and coordination of services related to the implementation of IM technologies.

Qualifications

Requirements: 

  • University graduation in a related field such as Information Management.
  • 4 years progressively responsible related experience in: 
    • Leading and documenting multiple concurrent projects related to information management, from initiation to final evaluation. 
    • Preparing briefings, briefing material, analysis/recommendation, responses to  information and action requests, and training materials for a variety of stakeholders. 
    • Experience in providing information management consultation, advice, and recommendations in alignment with related policy instruments and/or strategic direction.
  • Competency with SharePoint, SharePoint Online, and Microsoft Office 365 software.
  • Cover letter.


Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of: 

  • 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 
  • 1 year of experience for 1 year of education


Assets:

  • Designation in Certified Records Manager, Certified Information Professional, Enterprise Content Management Master, and/or Project Management Professional.
  • Experience with electronic content management system(s).
  • Experience in:
    • Planning and development of training materials and e-courses. 
    • Research, analysis, design and implementation of information management solutions. 
    • Deployment of enterprise content management system such as M365. 
    • Project management related to enhancement of centralized IM program services. 
    • Risk management - assessment and mitigation.  
    • Change Management.
    • Consultation, coaching, and coordination of services related to the implementation of IM technologies.

Term of Employment:  Permanent, Full-time position. 

Hours of Work:  36.25 hrs./week - Monday to Friday 

Location: Edmonton 

This position may be eligible for hybrid work.
