Role Responsibilities

Are you ready to help shape impactful agri-environmental grant programs? The Agri-Environmental Initiatives Section is seeking a Senior Grant Coordinator to play a key role in the development, delivery, and evaluation of grant programs under the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership (S-CAP), including the Resilient Agricultural Landscape Program (RALP).

About the Role
The Senior Grant Coordinator provides strategic coordination and subject matter expertise across all stages of grant program development and delivery. Key responsibilities include leading process design, supporting applicants, reviewing proposals, managing one-off grants and contracts, and contributing to performance measurement and reporting. You will collaborate with internal teams and government partners to ensure programs are technically sound, legally compliant, and aligned with Ministry priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of grant program processes and delivery standards.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., Legal Services, Financial Services, CAP Secretariat) to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Support applicants through the intake process and review proposals for eligibility and technical merit.
  • Monitor budgets, track performance measures, and prepare reports for management and stakeholders.
  • Manage one-off grants and contracts, including risk assessment, project oversight, and reporting.
  • Provide strategic input into section and branch priorities, including business planning and annual reporting.

  • Interpreting and resolving applicant concerns while maintaining program integrity.
  • Evaluating program performance and identifying opportunities for system and processes improvements.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirement:

  • University graduation in a related field such as Environmental Science/Studies, Agriculture, Economics, or Public Administration. 
  • Plus 2 years progressively responsible related experience in grant program development, delivery, or evaluation is preferred. 
  • or equivalent as described below. 


Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of: 

  • 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 
  • 1 year of experience for 1 year of education. 


Assets:

  • Experience in grant program development, delivery, and reporting.
  • Experience in project coordination, stakeholder engagement, or agri-environmental programming.
  • Understanding of Alberta’s agricultural practices and agri-environmental challenges. 
  • Proven ability to analyze complex data, manage multiple projects, and communicate clearly with diverse audiences. 
  • Ability to adapt quickly to shifting priorities and unexpected changes, while maintaining focus on overarching program objectives.

Position Details:

  • Division/Branch: Primary Agriculture.
  • Office located in Edmonton J.G.O’Donoghue Building.
  • Hours of Work: 36.25 hours per week (Temporary, full time, ending March 31, 2028).
  • Monday to Friday (08:15 am-16:30 pm).
  • Travel: < 25% (Some travel within Alberta may be required).
