Role Responsibilities
Reporting to the Credential Evaluation Supervisor, Teacher and Leadership Certification, the Senior Credential Evaluator is responsible for the certification of teachers in compliance with Department legislation, regulations and policies to ensure that the certification process is carried out in a fair and equitable manner.
Responsibilities:
- Development and application of assessment standards, principles, and methodologies.
- Research and assessment of credentials for certification.
- Provide input regarding policy, legislation changes, day-to-day operations, and timely issues regarding teacher certification and employability.
- Provide expertise on national and international credentials to stakeholder groups, including employers, post-secondary institutions, and other teacher licensing bodies.
- Lead and manage collaborative initiatives with stakeholders.
- Ensure that all teacher applicants with offers of employment present acceptable credentials and have the proper teaching authority to be in the classroom in keeping with the Education Act.

Qualifications
University graduation in Arts or a related field plus 2 years progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent as described below.
Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
1 year of experience for 1 year of education
Requirements:
- Strong and thorough understanding of national and international education systems and teacher certification assessment standards.
- Strong research and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational, project, and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently in a continuously changing environment and within a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders, partners and clients.
- A high degree of knowledge and confidence in using technology.
- Understanding of the principles of administrative justice and procedural fairness.
Assets
- Minimum of two years full-time experience in the evaluation of foreign educational credentials.
- Ability to speak and read French.
