Assisted Living and Social Services (ALSS) provides supports for seniors, families, and communities, and helps Albertans access disability services, continuing care, financial supports, affordable housing, services for the homeless, and other social-based programs. The Ministry supports Albertans through a person-centered, integrated service delivery model that recognizes the unique circumstances, experiences and strengths of individuals and families.

The Corporate Procurement Office (CPO) is eager to have a strong analytical mind join their team as a Senior Contract Specialist providing services to one of the larger ministries in the Government of Alberta (GoA).
Reporting to the Manager - CPO, you will be part of a small team of contract, grant, and procurement experts who provide consultation, policy, compliance, reporting, and training services to the contracting and grant program staff of Alberta Assisted Living and Social Services (ALSS).
As a Senior Contract Specialist, your knowledge of best practices for contracts, grants, and procurements as well as relevant GoA policies, legislation and trade agreements, along with your experience with financial analysis and processes, and understanding of the data collected related to these activities, will enable you to provide expert advice and guidance in adapting, implementing and integrating corporate contract and grant policy and best practices within ALSS.
You will support ALSS’ Contract and Grant Review Committee(s) (“Committees”) by providing critical reviews of submissions, presenting recommendations to the Committees, and working with all areas of the ministry to ensure all related administrative and reporting requirements are satisfied. In addition, as a valuable member of CPO’s team, you will participate in working groups and provide input on the development, review, and implementation of policies, procedures, controls and other strategic or operational initiatives.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- University graduation in a business, commerce or economics field plus four (4) years progressively responsible related experience in procurement and risk management.
Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
Assets:
- Experience in financial analysis, especially in the context of contracts, grants, and procurement is preferred.
- Experience with business intelligence software (e.g., PowerBI) is preferred.
- Experience working with contract and grant management systems, financial systems, training development and facilitation is an asset.

This is a permanent position located in Edmonton, AB.
