The Senior Branch Coordinator assists in managing key projects, supports divisional priorities, and ensures timely, coordinated delivery of strategic planning as well as capital development initiatives. You would be at the heart of shaping Alberta’s parks agenda with a focus on communication, policy, and organizational excellence.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
•    Manage issues and initiatives to ensure timely progress.
•    Review and/or develop various documents resulting in appropriate communication, understanding of issues, and recommended actions.
•    Lead/participate/assist with divisional activities resulting in activity completion and initiative progress.
•    Communicate and liaise both within the department and externally to ensure important information and understanding are retained.
•    Support the Executive Director in organizing, coordinating, and communicating the divisional business plan items, operational plans, and quarterly reporting plans with the regions and the Assistant Deputy Minister's office and other divisions or departments.
•    Supervise administrative positions supporting divisional accountabilities.

Qualifications

Education:
University graduation in a related field (such as parks, infrastructure, natural resource management, public or business administration) plus 4 years progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent as described below. 

 

Equivalency:  Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of: 
•    1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 
•    1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

 

Additional Requirements:
•    exceptional organizational, communication and information management skills.
•    the ability to shift priorities in accordance with the evolving strategic requirements.
•    the ability to distill disparate pieces of information from a variety of sources in order to synthesize the information into a clarified, holistic product.
•    an ability to work within corporate processes to manage and resolve issues while ensuring information flow with the necessary individuals.

 

Assets:
•    Broad knowledge base related to parks, land use and resource management, environmental and outdoor recreation and tourism sectors. 
•    Some knowledge and experience in GoA contracting and procurement procedures, engagement, and strategic policies. 
•    Experience communicating with both internal and external stakeholders and rightsholders such as staff, indigenous groups, recreation groups, environmental organizations, municipalities, etc.
•    Proficiency with Microsoft Suite products including SharePoint, Teams, and PowerPoint.
