Financial Services provides a comprehensive range of support functions essential to the effective operation of the ministry. These include compliance oversight, budgeting, financial reporting, procurement, accommodation services, fleet management, and emergency management. Collectively, these functions are critical in supporting the ministry’s strategic priorities, enhancing operational efficiency, and ensuring alignment with the division, ministry, and Government of Alberta overall goals and objectives.
Role Responsibilities

You will be part of our dynamic team - delivering fair and efficient client service using strong interpersonal, decision-making and communication skills.
As the Senior Accommodation Planner, your responsibilities will include, (but are not limited to):
- Consulting with and advising clients regarding existing or new accommodation requirements, which will facilitate a team approach to address the program area’s requirements.
- Interacting with program area contacts and stakeholders on an ongoing basis to discuss program accommodations, construction project details, basic Information Technology, security and furniture requirements.
- Developing and assisting in implementing innovative accommodation and construction solutions in support of the client and corporate business objectives.
- Initiating, assisting and/or managing the implementation of accommodation and capital projects that covers a diverse range of client program areas with a wide range of costs ($5,000 to over $3 million+) with other stakeholders and internal clients.
- Providing and assisting in the development and completion of action requests.
This position involves some travel throughout the province to view the performance of various types of program space and the implementation of a variety of projects.
To be successful in this Senior Accommodation Planner role, you will demonstrate:
- Strong interpersonal skills to facilitate team building through client and stakeholder interaction as well as the ability to recognize potential conflicts, opportunities and communicate them appropriately.
- Strong organizational skills to deal with a multitude of competing requests for attention and funding.
- Ability to communicate (oral or written) effectively with different levels of government, as well as private sector vendors.
- Well-developed analytical, decision making, time-management, front-end project planning, project management, and group leadership skills.
- A thorough understanding of sensitivities and appropriateness in approaches as they relate to accommodations and facilities.
- Experience working and collaborating with diverse groups of people, including facilitating multi-stakeholder groups is required.

Qualifications
- University degree (Project Management, Architectural Design, Interior Design) in a related field and a minimum of 4 years of progressively responsible related experience in project management (space planning/facilities/interior design will be preferred).
Equivalencies may be considered:
- Diploma and a minimum of six (6) year’s related experience, Certificate and a minimum of seven (7) year’s experience, No education and a minimum of eight (8) year’s experience.
Required:

- Experience in project prioritization to deal with multiple projects and conflicting priorities.
- Experience in strong communication both oral and written to effectively communicate with different levels of clients and stakeholders.
- Experience in providing well-developed analytical, decision making, time-management, front-end project planning, project management, and group leadership skills.
- Experience working and collaborating with diverse groups of people, including facilitating multi-stakeholder groups.
Assets:
- Experience in stakeholder engagement to facilitate clearly defined project scopes and provide concise project plans to meet the target goals and outcomes.
- Experience with or understanding contract law.
- Experience related to the technical aspects of planning and construction.
- Experience and knowledge of government and departmental processes and standards.
- Experience using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint sites. AutoCAD, and WORTS.
- Knowledge of GoA procurement process, contracting and facilities.

Notes
- Hours: 36.25 hours, Monday to Friday 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with 1-hour unpaid lunch.
- Location: ATB Place North,10025 Jasper Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta T5J 1S6.
- Position Available: One (1) permanent position.
This position requires approximately 20–30% travel within the province.
Final candidates will be required to undergo a security screening.
