Help shape the future of enterprise systems across Government !
Join the 1GX Centre of Excellence (CoE) and play a key role in strengthening the Government of Alberta’s enterprise resource planning (ERP) platform that supports critical functions including human capital, supply chain, financial, and treasury management.
The Senior Business Analyst provides expert analysis and project leadership to support the ongoing performance, improvement, and evolution of the 1GX system—particularly within Supply Chain Management (SCM). Working in a highly collaborative environment, this role partners with stakeholders across government and with the system integrator to ensure solutions effectively support business needs.
Responsibilities:
Some of the responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Provide leadership, coordination, and support to stakeholders and project teams in the analysis, design, testing, quality assurance, and implementation of 1GX system enhancements and releases.
- Serve as a key liaison and senior point of contact to ensure 1GX system changes are properly reviewed, assessed, and aligned with Government, ILO, and Ministry business plans, policies, procedures, and standards.
- Provide expertise in issue resolution to support 1GX operations and the production environment.
- Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements aligned with Government, ILO, and Ministry objectives.
- Proactively engage with stakeholders—including 1GX users, relevant business streams (e.g., Finance and SCM), and Service Managers—to assess impacts, address issues, and ensure business needs are met.
- Provide project management and leadership for large, complex initiatives, supporting projects from planning through to completion.

Qualifications
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Science, or an equivalent field.
- Minimum 4 years of experience working with SAP, ECC or S/4HANA in Source‑to‑Contract or Procure‑to‑Pay modules.
- Strong functional knowledge of SAP Supply Chain Management (SCM) processes.
- Experience in SAP Finance (FI), including understanding financial postings, invoice processing, and integration points with procurement and supply chain.
- Experience with SAP Ariba, Fieldglass, OpenText, and other procurement SaaS applications.
- Proven expertise working with complex stakeholders and vendors, including leading requirement‑gathering sessions and evaluating solution feasibility.
- Solid understanding of public sector procurement practices and frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with Procure‑to‑Pay, Sourcing, and Supplier Management processes in SAP.
- Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience in IT testing and validation, particularly for Ariba and Fieldglass updates.
- Experience with SAP BTP integration, Datasphere, and SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) for reporting and analytics.
- Strong communication, documentation, and problem‑solving skills.
Equivalencies: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education
Assets:
- SAP Certification in P2P S/4 HANA, Ariba or Fieldglass is a strong asset.
- Experience in project management principles, methodologies, processes, and best practices
- Experience working in a large, public-sector environment.
- Certified Business Analysis Professional designation.
- Project Management Professional designation.
- Experience with basic accounting, budgeting and audit processes, controls, and trails.
- Experience in negotiation and obtaining commitment of others.
- Political acumen to manage political issues.

Term of Employment: Permanent full-time position.
Hours of Work: 36.25 hours per week/ Monday to Friday
Location: Greater Edmonton Area/ Remote across Alberta
Candidates located within the Greater Edmonton Area will be expected to work in the office, while those residing outside the region may be eligible for remote work.
You must reside in Alberta to work remotely for this position.
