Role Responsibilities
Do you excel at building trust, coordinating complex restorative processes, and supporting fair and trauma‑informed outcomes within a structured oversight environment?
As the Restorative Action Program Coordinator (RAPC) for the Police Review Commission (PRC), you will play a central role in administering restorative, community‑focused alternatives for addressing police officer misconduct, including the community service and donation programs. In this unique role, you will coordinate placements and donations, build partnerships with non‑profit organizations across Alberta, and guide officers through a fair, transparent, and trauma‑informed process.
Key areas that will make you successful in this role:
- Program Administration and Compliance
- Oversee daily operations of the community service and charitable donation programs, ensuring consistent, objective, and timely delivery.
- Develop and implement internal processes, forms, and documentation that support high‑quality program administration.
- Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, PRC policies, and privacy requirements.
- Maintain accurate records, analyze trends, and prepare reports that support evidence‑based decision‑making.
- Case Management
- Coordinate officer participation in community service and charitable donation programs.
- Assess suitability of placements or donation options based on circumstances of the incident, community impact, and restorative goals.
- Provide clear communication to officers, complainants, and stakeholders, applying trauma‑informed and culturally responsive practices.

- Identify, vet, and maintain a network of approved non‑profit and community organizations across Alberta.
- Build strong, culturally responsive relationships with community partners, ensuring alignment with PRC values.
- Conduct outreach and site visits, address concerns, and support organizations in meeting supervision and reporting expectations.
- Training, Outreach, and Education
- Develop and deliver presentations, training materials, and informational resources for internal teams and external partners.
- Promote awareness of restorative program options to stakeholders.

- Exercise sound judgment within a complex and evolving oversight environment.

- Foster collaboration across PRC teams and contribute to consistent, high‑quality practices in alternative resolution.

- Expand and diversify placement and donation options by building partnerships with new organizations that align with restorative and community‑driven outcomes.
- Gather and integrate stakeholder feedback to improve program design and delivery.
- Ensure program standards remain current, clear, and aligned with legislation, PRC policy, and operational needs.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Undergraduate degree in a related field (Criminology, Law and Society, Police Studies, Sociology, Public Administration, Human/Social Services, etc.), plus a minimum of two (2) years of related experience (case management, policy and program development, etc.).
Directly related education or experience will be considered based on:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education
The following will be considered assets:
- Experience with conflict resolution strategies and trauma-informed approaches to ensure a fair and supportive complaint resolution process.
- Experience with front line service delivery dealing with sensitive issues.
- Experience building relationships and coordinating with community partners.
- Experience working with or for not-for-profit agencies or charitable foundations.
- Previous experience working with vulnerable populations will be considered an asset.
- Previous experience working with law enforcement agencies will be considered an asset.
- Familiarity with Alberta’s policing legislation and public sector operations is an asset.
Technical Competencies:
- Ability to manage sensitive information and navigate complex cases with professionalism and impartiality.
- Experience interpreting and applying policies and procedures within a resolution framework, ensuring compliance with established guidelines.
- Understanding of trauma-informed, culturally competent, and equity-based practices in conflict resolution.
- Experience in program coordination, stakeholder engagement, or community development.
- Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and relationship-building skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and case management systems; ability to produce accurate reports and maintain detailed records.
- Cultural competencies for working with Indigenous and diverse communities.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and external contacts.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high attention to detail.
