The System Support and Policy Branch provides leadership in policy development and interpretation regarding the provision of a continuum of supports and services that can be accessed by students in a manner consistent with the principles of inclusive education. The Branch provides strategic advice in the development of materials for leadership, and supports the development of engagement materials for initiatives across the Education Supports Sector. Current key initiatives include Mental Health in Schools; Welcoming, Caring, Respectful and Safe Learning Environments; Social Emotional Learning; Bullying prevention; and leading cross ministry collaboration to enable students to access appropriate services and supports.
Role Responsibilities
The Research Analyst will be assisting with the development, interpretation and implementation of education-related legislation, regulations and policies and ministry programs and initiatives (e.g., inclusive education, social emotional learning).
The incumbent will also be responsible for:
- Developing briefings, conducting research and providing policy analysis to support achieving department mandate and priority items.
- Preparing reports and analysis of data/information to ensure program leaders have research results presented in an appropriate format to make informed decision.
- Performing environmental scans to identify good practices, issues, and potential future directions for implementing provincial programs, policy priorities, and initiatives.
- Participating in project teams and help projects focused on reviewing and evaluating data in evidence-based decision-making.
- Managing data and information collection, analysis, and consultation services to determine requirements for current and potential programs, services, and initiatives that Education Support Sector priorities.

Qualifications
University graduation in Public Administration, Education, or a related field plus 2 years progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent as described below.
Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
The position requires strong knowledge/experience of:
- Research analysis.
- Policy development analysis.
- Project management.
- Knowledge of inclusion practices and supporting diverse needs will be an asset.
- Knowledge of Education systems will be an asset.
