Role Responsibilities

Join Treasury Board and Finance as a Recoveries Officer, where you’ll play a key role in recovering amounts owed to the provincial and federal governments, as well as individuals and organizations.
This position supports the financial integrity of government operations by ensuring outstanding debts are recovered efficiently and in accordance with legislation and policy, while also maximizing the recovery of funds for General Revenue Fund (GRF).
What You’ll Do:
As a Recoveries Officer, you will:
• Manage and prioritize recovery files across assigned programs using a case management system.
• Act as the primary contact for a wide range of stakeholders including debtors, employers, financial institutions, legal professionals,
enforcement agencies, and government partners.
• Conduct skip tracing, negotiate payment arrangements, prepare documentation, and initiate enforcement actions.
• Recommend and implement enforcement strategies when voluntary arrangements are not viable.
• Ensure assets are properly encumbered to secure debts owed to the Crown or other parties.
• Contribute to program planning and continuous improvement initiatives aligned with departmental priorities.

Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements:
High school diploma and four years of related experience.
Required experience will include:
• Collection and/or Accounts Receivable experience
• Experience analyzing financial information
• Experience dealing with emotionally-charged and complex clients
• Knowledge of skip tracing practices used in recoveries
Equivalency:
Directly related experience or education considered on the basis of:
• 1 year of experience for 1 year of education or
• 1 year of education for 1 year of experience
Assets:
• Knowledge of software ad systems used in recoveries (Wincollect, JOIN, ROADS, AHC, ORCA)
• General knowledge of Court of King’s Bench, Provincial Criminal and Traffic Court processes is preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Familiarity with relevant legislation and knowledge of their specific application to recovery programs and dissemination of
confidential information

Hours of Work: Monday – Friday, 8:15a.m.-4:30p.m. (36.25 hours per week)

Location: This position is located in downtown Edmonton.
