The Data & Content Management (DCM) division within the Ministry of Technology and Innovation (TI) is accountable for the Government of Alberta Data Strategy; enterprise-wide content management advice and services including data, information and records services; and the government’s internal artificial intelligence program including robotic process automation.

Enterprise Content Management (ECM) is a branch within the DCM Division of the Ministry of Technology and Innovation (T&I), which supports Alberta’s economic growth and diversification through innovation and technology.

Role Responsibilities

The ECM branch is looking for two (2) Records Advisors. This positions reports to the Team Lead, Transfers, Storage and Disposition.

The responsibilities of this role include:

  • Support compliant records lifecycle activities, including retention, disposition, storage, and classification in accordance with legislation, policy, and approved schedules.
  • Provide guidance and advisory support to program areas on records management practices, including interpretation and application of retention schedules and documentation requirements.
  • Assist in monitoring and appraisal activities, identifying compliance gaps, risks, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Contribute to records-related projects and initiatives, including digitization, system changes, and large-scale transfer or disposition efforts.
  • Deliver training and awareness sessions to help staff and partners understand and apply information and records management requirements.
  • Provide day-to-day operational support and quality assurance, reviewing records outputs and ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Support the use of AI and emerging technologies, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency while ensuring alignment with privacy, legislative, and information governance requirements.
  • Provides direction and assistance to program areas in locating inactive and closed records required to support ongoing business, legal, audit, or operational needs.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • 1-year post-secondary certificate in a related field (e.g., Information and Records Management), supplemented by two (2) years of progressively related experience.
  • Experience with RIM with a focus on operational delivery, advisory services, and support for modernization initiatives within a complex, multi‑stakeholder environment.
  • Knowledge of retention schedules and interpretation of policies.
  • Knowledge of records and information management policies, procedures, and systems.
  • A cover letter clearly demonstrating relevant skills and competencies tailored to this position.

 

Equivalencies:

  • A related two-year diploma and a minimum of one (1) year of related experience; or
  • A minimum of three (3) years of related experience in lieu of formal education.

 

Assets:

  • Awareness of enterprise content management systems and digital tools, including Microsoft 365 (M365).
  • Understanding of change management concepts and their application in transitioning from paper-based to digital processes.
  • Familiarity with project coordination tools and methodologies.
