Family Support Order Services (FSOS) helps families achieve their court ordered support obligations. FSOS includes the Maintenance Enforcement Program (MEP) and the Child Support Recalculation Program (RP). We are seeking a motivated individual with strong analytical, communication, and people skills to provide recalculation services to clients. The position demands exceptional attention to detail, organizational ability, multitasking under tight deadlines, agility, and independent decision-making. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate agility and solid problem-solving skills while exercising a high-level of independent decision-making.

The successful candidate will:

  • Apply legislation to a variety of complex and individualized file circumstances.
  • Provide information to stakeholders on the telephone and in writing.
  • Focus on customer service and assisting Albertans with access to justice.
  • Process registration requests, analyzing court orders to determine clients’ eligibility for our services.
  • Perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Review income tax information and determine new child support amounts.
  • Analyze file circumstances to make recommendations that RP decline to recalculate where appropriate.
  • Accurately enter information into RP's computer system to record file steps and decisions.

Qualifications

High School diploma (or post-secondary education) plus a minimum of three years progressive related experience (accounting, banking, and business etc.) is required.

Equivalencies may be considered:
Diploma and a minimum of one (1) year related experience, Certificate and a minimum of two (2) years related experience. 

Required:
Applicants must include a detailed cover letter explaining how their experience aligns with the qualifications; applications submitted without one will not be accepted. 
Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) is required.

Assets:
Experience working in a court/legal environment.
Experience in accounting and/or banking. 
Experience working with income tax returns.
Experience providing program support and providing program information to clients. 
Experience in conflict resolution with clients.

Candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered at a lower classification and salary.

Notes

Hours of work:  Monday – Friday, 8:15 am - 4:30 pm (36.25/week).

Positions currently available: One (1) permanent position.

Location: John E. Brownlee Building, 10365 – 97 Street, Edmonton, Alberta, T5J 3W7.

Candidates must complete a written assessment, and only those who achieve a specified score will be invited to interview.
