The Procurement Services branch in Service Alberta and Red Tape Reduction works toward Government of Alberta's (GoA) mandate for efficient, open, and transparent procurement.
We are recruiting Purchasing Officers in the Corporate Purchasing unit of the Procurement Services Branch. This unit provides centralized services for all GoA ministries that need to acquire supplies. Our team leads competitive procurements, in alignment with trade agreements and provincial legislation.

We are looking for Purchasing Officers to lead supplies procurements for all GoA departments. These positions report to a Procurement Manager in the Corporate Purchasing unit.
To be successful in this role you must:
- Be a great communicator, who is organized and attentive to details.

- Be comfortable balancing diverse, sometimes conflicting client needs.
- Look for ways to be a positive influence, even without positional authority; and
- Be able to develop user expertise in a complex Enterprise Resource Planning IT system (1GX).

Qualifications
University graduation in a related field, such as such as, but not limited to a Bachelor of Commerce, Supply Chain Management and 2 years of related experience in procurement.
The following equivalencies would be considered:
- A related 2-year diploma and a minimum of 4 years related experience.
- A related 1-year certificate and a minimum of 5 years related experience.
- A related Masters and no related experience.
- No post secondary education and a minimum of 6 years related experience.
Candidates who clearly demonstrate in their resume the following assets will be given preference:
- Experience developing specifications for inclusion in RFx (Request For) documents.
- Procurement experience in the public sector which includes being familiar with trade agreements and requirements for open, competitive tendering.
- Professional purchasing certification (e.g. SCMP or similar).
- Experience using Ariba supply chain management software (or similar.
- Experience navigating an Enterprise Resource Planning system such as 1GX, Success Factors or another similar system.

Notes
Our office is located at Oxbridge Place in downtown Edmonton (9820 106 Street). Hybrid work options may be available (3 days in the office, 2 days working from home), subject to operational viability.
Hours of Work are Monday to Friday, 8:15 am to 4:30 pm, with one hour lunch break. Flexible work schedules may be available on a case-by-case basis, subject to government policy and operational viability.
