Parks Division, Regional Operations Branch is responsible for enabling outdoor nature-based recreation and natural heritage appreciation across over 260 high-value sites, facilitating approximately 12 million visitors annually, and consisting of a peak summer operating season team of over 700 permanent and seasonal staff. Role Responsibilities
The Provincial Maintenance Management Coordinator is responsible for providing leadership, coordination, and implementation of provincial maintenance strategies for Regional Operations Branch. This includes determining new and emerging opportunities for maintenance management, leading working groups to advance initiatives, facilitating training for staff, and providing expert guidance on the operational policy to guide front-line service delivery.
This Coordinator is a provincial subject matter expert for the Parks Maintenance operational stream, bringing forward program improvements and refinements. While this position has no direct reports, the work by this position directly impacts how maintenance and municipal services management programs are delivered across the entire province, working with and impacting over 200 staff.
The maintenance program in Alberta Parks focuses on site servicing and repairs, identifying capital maintenance and renewal requirements, asset condition reporting, operating site utilities (sewer, water, power), and quality assessment of maintenance and contract work. Ensuring an effective maintenance and municipal service program is essential to ensure visitor experience outcomes are delivered in the Parks Division managed sites.
Core responsibilities include the following:
1. Supporting development and training of seasonal staff through
- Developing core seasonal training programs for maintenance staff.
- Supporting regions in the overall harmonization of seasonal staff recruitment and supervision.
2. Leading and developing the Parks Division Maintenance Delivery Strategy including:
- Developing maintenance inspection protocols and processes
- Working to develop site servicing standards
- Developing system process design and support tools (ie. templates, procedures, SOPs, etc.) to implement a maintenance management system.
3. Operationalizing the Maintenance Strategy with a focus on harmonizing implementation among all regions within Parks Division:
- Providing effective project management for strategic initiatives in maintenance
- Coordinating, tracking and monitoring compliance with system level maintenance requirements
- Facilitating or delivering professional development training for permanent staff.
- Coordinating and developing best practices and standard operating procedures
- Being a champion for a culture of continuous improvement within the stream.
- Leading the development of strategic alliances, partnerships and networks to achieve optimized delivery of Parks Division Maintenance and Municipal Services Management Delivery Strategy.

Qualifications
Education as per Minimum Recruitment Standards:
Diploma in infrastructure, trades or maintenance related field plus 7 years of progressively related experience in maintenance management, or related roles. Formal education in a different field may also be considered if work experience demonstrates direct relatability to the role requirements.
Equivalencies based on:
- one year of experience for one year of education or
- one year of education for one year of experience will be considered.
Assets:
- The ability to work well with diverse team members over a dispersed area.
- The ability to effectively chair meetings, and ensure working groups function well together.
- Knowledge and experience working with maintenance programs, principles, and processes.
- Direct experience in delivery of aa maintenance management program
- Knowledge and experience with Alberta specific OHS legislation, regulation and codes.
- Experience working within a publically delivered Parks System, or similar government organization.
- Experience and/or education in project management and/or maintenance management.

Notes
This is a full-term permanent position with 36.25 hours per week, Monday – Friday.
This position does require periodic travel within the Province of Alberta, and the position will occasionally require overtime work.
Class 5 License is required.
Criminal Record Check required.
The preference is to work in the Edmonton, Red Deer, Canmore, Lac La Biche or Lethbridge parks offices. Alternative locations with an established Parks office may be considered.
