Role Responsibilities
Reporting to the Senior Property & Space Planner, you will play a key role in managing space and accommodation needs for Service Alberta and Red Tape Reduction (SARTR) and Technology Innovation (TI). This position supports short- and long-term accommodation planning, policy development, and project delivery to ensure ministries have the resources and environments needed to deliver high-quality public services.
As the Property and Space Planner you will support an accommodation planning team for Service Alberta and Red Tape Reduction (SARTR) and Technology Innovation (TI) in excess of 2600 staff located in all areas across the province and nearly every GOA facility throughout Alberta. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining all accommodation policies and procedures, in adherence with GOA Directives, Infrastructure policies and procedures, SARTR and TI requirements, mandates and policies.
As a Property & Space Planner, your Key Responsibilities include:
- Develop and implement ministry administrative policies and procedures in alignment with GoA directives.
- Lead short- and long-term accommodation planning, including budgeting and project delivery.
- Consult with internal and external stakeholders to identify and resolve accommodation issues.
- Develop innovative solutions to optimize space usage and reduce costs.
- Conduct cost-benefit analyses and prepare project documentation for ministerial review.
- Represent the ministry on cross-government committees and working groups.
- Oversee facilities management and furniture acquisition processes.

- Ability to interpret and apply Treasury Board and Infrastructure policies.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Qualifications
University graduation in Project Management, Urban Planning, Public Policy or a related degree, supplemented by at least two years of related experience or a equivalent as described below.
Equivalency
Directly related experience or education considered based on:
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education or
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience.
The following will be considered Assets:
- Project Management Certificate 101 and 102.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AUTOCAD.
- Experience interacting and working with senior leadership, Assistant Deputy Ministers, Deputy Ministers.
- Experience working in strategic policy or legislation development.
