Alberta Infrastructure designs, builds, manages, and maintains government-owned and operated facilities, and collaborates with other ministries to ensure that schools, hospitals, and government facilities infrastructure meet the needs of Alberta’s population. Role Responsibilities
Reporting to a Project Manager within the Project Delivery group in the Property Management Branch, this position will assist in and manage the delivery of Major Maintenance, Operations and Tenant Improvement Projects and Consultant Investigations in Government owned and leased facilities. The Project elivery Intern will participate in the planning and scope definition of all projects.
The Project Delivery Intern will be able to manage the diverse priorities of project team members, communicating clearly to resolve issues while respecting project scope, schedule, and budget constraints. As part of the learning plan, this position will develop strong decision-making abilities and demonstrated negotiation skills to resolve issues relating to design proposals, progress claims, fee determination, construction contrct delays, or extra cost claims.In addition, they will be required to communicate and build collaborative working relationships with clients, including representatives of Government departments, boards and agencies.
The primary responsibilities for the Project Delivery Intern include, but are not limited to:
- Selecting consultants and identifying in-house resources for the project team
- Identifying, and collaborating with clients and in house staff, as required
- Prioritizing requirements and developing recommendations for project implementation
- Managing project expenditures through all stages of project implementation to ensure maximum value within approved budget
- Establishing the project critical path and ensuring consultants provide deliverables within timelines, including design reports and contract documents
- Drafting ministerial briefings and correspondence on project-related issues.
The Project Delivery Intern requires basic knowledge of:
- Planning and management principles and techniques, as well as the ability to administer control systems and manage contracts
- Planning, design, and construction documentation requirements
- Design and construction theories, disciplines, and processes, including those relating to architecture, structural, mechanical and electrical engineering and contract law.

Qualifications

Required:
- Two-year technical diploma in Architecture, Engineering, or related field
- PLUS 2 years of experience in project management.
Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
Assets:
- Certification as a construction administrator or project manager
- Training in management skills and relevant software applications
- Working knowledge of software tools used to carry out responsibilities (i.e. Microsoft Word, MS Project, Excel, and other project management software.

This position is a Temporary, Full-Time role with the standard weekly work hours of 36.25, Monday to Friday (8:15 am – 4:30 pm).
