Role Responsibilities

The Manager, Bow River Reservoir Options, is currently seeking a Project Coordinator to join their team.

In this position, you will co-ordinate activities that contribute to the timely delivery of an exciting and complex initiative exploring flood and drought mitigation options to reduce the impacts of severe weather events on Albertans and the economy.

This initiative includes two distinct projects, requiring integrated delivery to enable appropriate linkages between them, and this position is a critical part of that integration.
•    The first project is looking at the feasibility of three major reservoir and dam options on the Bow River, upstream of Calgary, for mitigating the impacts of flood and drought. More information on this project can be found on our website: https://www.alberta.ca/bow-river-reservoir-options.aspx.
•    A second project is exploring if potential alternatives to a reservoir and dam could meet the same flood and drought mitigation objectives.

The final deliverable from the broader team is a Cabinet Report to inform elected officials about which of the three dam options to pursue further, if any.

You will join multi-disciplinary and cross-Ministry teams and will work with external teams and organizations. Involvement of and collaboration with internal and external subject matter experts and technical contributors will inform the engagement, engineering, and environmental aspects of the projects.

In support of this work, the Project Coordinator will be responsible for the day-to-day project administration of project activities. This includes ensuring completion of cross-cutting activities such as protocol preparation, report writing, and records management. Additionally, the Project Coordinator will contribute to the wider project teams to develop plans, prepare documentation, conduct portfolio management activities, and lead status reporting. The Project Coordinator will provide daily status updates on their critical daily activities. Also, they will provide routine robust briefings to the Project Director, Project Managers and the project team. The Project Coordinator will respond frequently to dynamic timelines, schedules and planned activities according to changing project needs.

More specifically, this exciting and fast-paced position is involved in coordinating engagement and communication activities, project tracking, assisting with preparation of a Cabinet Report, and records and information management for the two projects.

The Project Coordinator maintains a strong understanding of the Project Managers’ direction, working within a group of GOA subject matter experts from Alberta Environment and Protected Areas and key consultant employees to deliver on this direction. To do this, this position may also coordinate contributions from subject matter experts from Alberta Indigenous Relations, Alberta Agriculture and Irrigation, and Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors. Examples of engagement and communication products delivered are engagement sessions, routine project newsletters, website updates, responding to inquiries, preparing mail outs, and more.
