The Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation is responsible for the policies, legislation, regulations, programs, and services that enable Alberta’s agriculture and food sectors to flourish and contribute to Alberta’s economic recovery and growth. Financial Services Division supports the achievement of ministry outcomes, and the continued delivery of corporate services to clients and stakeholders.

Facilities & Fleet Services Unit staff manage core ministry services for departmental divisions including program accommodations, facilities, fleet management, driver safety, and ministry parking requirements. Staff work daily with cross ministry staff in Alberta Infrastructure, Service Alberta Red Tape Reduction, and Technology and Innovation.

As a key member of our Facilities and, Fleet, team, you’ll play an essential role in keeping important projects, parking assignments and fleet management—and the people who deliver them—moving forward. From coordinating project activities to ensuring smooth financial and contract administration, your work will directly support the delivery of safe, efficient, and well managed spaces across the ministry.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide project administration services to support the delivery of projects within the area and the management of the area project portfolio.
  • Provide fleet administration support such as but not limited to, fleet maintenance, Holman reports, etc.
  • Provide parking assignment backup to the ministry parking coordinator.
  • Maintains project files, tracks project progress and deadlines, and prepares status updates and reports for leadership and stakeholders. 
  • Support fleet coordinator on fleet management tasks.
  • Supports surplus coordination and works with the Accommodations Lead and Planner on surplus and facility related activities. 
  • Builds and maintains effective communication linkages with program staff and stakeholders to support efficient operations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma plus three (3) years of administrative, project assistant or related experience.


Equivalency
: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

  • 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 
  • 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.


Preference will be given to those with:

  • Experience with Office administration.
  • Experience with fleet and parking tasks.


Assets:

  • Project management knowledge and experience.
  • Fleet administration support experience.
  • First Aid certification.
  • For GoA or previous GoA candidates, 1GX experience is an asset.
  • Experience with workplace administrator.

Position Information:

  • This is a temporary wage position – 6 months.
  • Office located in Edmonton (J.G.O’Donoghue Building 7000-113 Street).
  • Hours of Work: 36.25 hours per week (full time, wage).
  • Monday to Friday (08:15 am to 4:30 pm).
