The Corporate Planning and Reporting branch has a diverse portfolio to assist the ministry in meeting its accountability requirements including corporate planning, performance measurement, reporting, and enterprise risk. In addition, the branch is responsible for the ministry's legislative services, accommodations and facilities, business continuity, and red tape reduction.

Reporting to the Lead, Red Tape Reduction, the Project Analyst provides leadership and day-to-day management of assigned initiatives and projects. The position manages high-profile projects within Jobs, Economy and Trade that have a positive impact on our employees, our partners, and the people we serve. The Project Analyst serves as a ministry-wide expert on project management providing expertise and coordination to ensure ministry projects are well positioned to successfully deliver the required outcomes. As a trusted colleague, you will also provide project and portfolio management advice and expertise to client areas across the ministry.
- Directly manage assigned projects.
- Provide expert advice on the delivery of client projects using sound project management principles.
- Develop innovative approaches and solutions to implement project management frameworks.
- Provide consultation, advice, expertise and recommendations to executives, management, and staff across the ministry in the areas of project management.
- Establish and maintains relationships within the department and with Government of Alberta representatives and partners.

Qualifications
University graduation in Business, Public Administration, or a related field plus 2 years progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent as described below.
Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education
To be effective in this role, you need to be a strong communicator (verbally and in writing) and bring strong consulting and relationship building skills to work effectively with internal clients on various projects. Political acumen, agility, and the ability to approach politically sensitive matters in a confidential, proactive, and positive manner are necessary. The ability to consistently meet hard deadlines are essential.
If you have advanced skills in project management, exquisite interpersonal skills, and the ability to lead from the front and all the sides, you could be the person we are looking for.
