The Ministry of Jobs, Economy, Trade and Immigration (JETI) has the following responsibilities:
- Jobs: helping address employment needs, establishing and enforcing Alberta’s employment standards and the laws governing the health and safety of Alberta’s workplaces, as well as establishing fair and transparent governance practices for regulated professions and designated occupations or trades.

- Economy: supporting Alberta entrepreneurs, businesses and communities to drive growth and job creation.
- Regional economic development: delivering tailored services that respond to the distinct economic priorities of Alberta’s regions while strategically leveraging their strengths and emerging regional opportunities.
- Trade and investment: attracting investment, promoting trade and supporting Alberta businesses’ abilities to access new markets, with a focus on defence, manufacturing and other key sectors.
- Immigration: attracting international talent to address labour market gaps, providing credential recognition services and enhancing access to settlement services to support full participation in Alberta’s economy and society.

The Program Delivery and Compliance Unit, within the Policy and Program Delivery Branch, administers and delivers programs that support Alberta’s economic development by encouraging business growth and fostering the success of small and medium-sized enterprises operating in the province’s primary and emerging sectors.
Role Responsibilities
The Program Officer provides support in the development, coordination, and overall administration of grant and tax credit programs. This position contributes to the effective delivery and administration of a broad range of economic development initiatives and legacy programs, while supporting stakeholder engagement and fostering collaborative relationship with internal and external partners.
Key responsibilities may include:
- Review applications, reports, invoices, and supporting documents to ensure compliance with program requirements, grant agreements, budget, and eligible expense criteria.
- Support the administration of grant and tax credit programs by coordinating application intake, assessment, approvals, compliance activities, and program closure processes.
- Develop program materials, guidelines, eligibility criteria, and implement processes, including interpretation of policies, regulations, and funding requirements.
- Develop and maintain program databases and tracking systems, and support reporting and decision-making.
- Identify opportunities for program improvement and enhanced stakeholder engagement through analysis of program performance, reporting data and emerging trends.
- Prepare and contribute to briefing notes, ministerial correspondence, action requests, funding recommendations, and other materials for senior management, executives and government officials.
- Conduct research and provide evidence-based recommendations to management and senior leadership on grant and tax credit programs that support economic growth.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders and subject matter experts to support program development and delivery.

Qualifications
Required:
- University graduation in Business, Finance, Accounting or a related field plus 2 years of progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent as describe below.
Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of grant management.
- Experience conducting research and analyzing complex information to support program development and delivery.
- Experience preparing reports, briefing materials, presentations, or other written products.
- Experience coordinating projects and managing multiple priorities while meeting established timelines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
- Experience building and maintaining effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to function well in a team-based environment that demands a high level of interpersonal skills.
Assets:
- Preference may be given to candidates who demonstrate:
- Experience with tax credit or grant program development or delivery.
- Financial background is an asset.
- Knowledge of grants management tracking systems such as Microsoft Client Relations Management (CRM) is an asset.
- Ability to foster good stakeholder relations with internal and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of policy and program development frameworks.
