Procurement Services provides services to Public Safety and Emergency Services. Working alongside its partners in law enforcement, criminal justice system, the Alberta Emergency Management Agency and other stakeholders, the ministry has a direct or shared responsibility in all elements of the justice system in Alberta and emergency management. The procurement of goods and services to meet the many diverse business needs within the ministry offer unique and challenging experiences.

As the procurement officer, you will be responsible for the procurement of a broad range of commodities on behalf of Ministry stakeholders. This position provides comprehensive services relating to the procurement of diverse goods and services for the ministry.
Reporting to a Procurement Manager, the Procurement Officer ensures that the procurement process is performed in compliance with internal departmental policies, the Direct Purchase Administrative Practices, Treasury Board Directive on Procurement and Sole-Sourcing, Procurement Accountability Framework and International and Domestic Trade Agreements, processing requests in a timely, accurate and efficient manner. The procurement officer will also act as the Ministry’s 1GX Purchasing Agent, responsible for reviewing and approving non-catalog purchase requisitions, creating sourcing requests and assisting Ministry users with the supply chain module in 1GX.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide consultation and advise to ministry representatives ensuring appropriate procurement methods are chosen and approvals obtained.
• Ensure procurement process is done in compliance with department policies and best practices, and trade agreements.
• Acts as the 1GX purchasing agent on behalf of the ministry.
You will build and maintain effective working relationships with representatives of all business areas, and outside vendors to facilitate the development, implementation, and continual enhancement of effective and efficient procurement programs and best practices for the Department.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- University degree in Business, Administration, Commerce, Supply Chain Management or any other related field.
Equivalency:
- Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of: 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education
Assets:
- Experience working with solicitation documents i.e. RFQs, RFPs, PQRs, RFIs, etc.
- Experience with 1GX or another enterprise resource planning (ERP).
- Supply Chain Designation and/or supply chain management experience.
- Providing a cover letter is strongly encouraged as your written skills will be evaluated through your cover letter.
