We are recruiting entry level roles in the Corporate Purchasing unit of the Procurement Services Branch. This unit provides centralized services for all GoA ministries. Our team leads competitive procurements and manages supply arrangement contracts so GoA programs can get the supplies they need in a manner that aligns with trade agreements and provincial legislation.

We are looking for detail oriented, energetic Procurement Coordinators to support supplies procurements for all GoA departments. These positions report to a Procurement Manager in the Corporate Purchasing unit. 

As a Procurement Coordinator, you will:

  • Support each step of the procurement process by preparing detailed documents, collating information, updating records, and checking quality assurance.
  • Use the Supply Chain Management functions of the GoA’s Enterprise Resource Planning system (1GX).
  • Create and maintain a database of common questions & answers about procurements, contracts and supply arrangements.
  • Keep track of clients and projects to coordinate effective outreach and customer service, and
  • Ensure catalogs, databases, templates, and instruction sheets are effectively maintained.


To be successful in this role you must:

  • Have excellent attention to detail, with an ability to provide quality assurance even when things are busy.
  • Have (or be able to develop) user expertise in a complex Enterprise Resource Planning IT system (1GX).
  • Be motivated to find answers through careful reading and thoughtful research.
  • Make sound judgments about how to interpret and respond to client and vendor enquiries.
  • Look for ways to be a positive influence, even without positional authority.
  • Have enthusiasm for policy and procurement.

Qualifications

The minimum recruitment standard for the Program Services 2 (PS2) classification is: University graduation in a related field; no experience required.

Equivalencies:

  • A one-year related certificate and 3 years of related experience.
  • A two-year diploma and 2 years of related experience.


The following are considered assets:

  • Professional purchasing certification (e.g. SCMP or similar).
  • Experience using Ariba supply chain management software (or similar).
  • Experience navigating GoA’s 1GX technology system.
  • Experience using GoA’s Action Request Tracking System (ARTS).
  • Knowledge of GoA’s policies, organizational structures and machinery of government.

Hours of Work:  Monday to Friday, 8:15am to 4:30pm.

Our office is located at Oxbridge Place in downtown Edmonton (9820 106 Street).

Hybrid work options may be available (3 days in the office, 2 days working from home).
