Role Responsibilities

The Strategy, Support and Integrated Initiatives division provides strategic and integrated policy and project services and functions for Public Safety and Emergency Services. The Policy Analyst reports to the Manager of Strategic Policy. As Policy Analyst, you will perform research and analysis and develop recommendations and information materials on a broad range of issues that may affect the direction and operations of legislated programs within the department. You will support government priorities, including department mandate commitments and other projects such as broad, systemic reviews of priority policy and legislative projects.
 
To be successful in this role, you will have:  

  • The ability to think strategically and develop solutions to complex problems,
  • The ability to provide facts in an objective manner,
  • Knowledge of the policy development cycle and government decision-making process,
  • Excellent verbal and written skills and
  • Theoretical knowledge of project coordination strategies.

Qualifications

Requirements: 

  • University graduation in humanities, social sciences, law or public administration.
  • Demonstrated research and/or policy experience.

 

Equivalencies considered based on one-year experience for one year of education or one year of education for one year of experience.

Assets:

  • Experience interpreting and writing policy documents.
  • Experience with project coordination and stakeholder engagement.
  • Demonstrated experience writing for a variety of audiences.
