Role Responsibilities

You will report to the Team Lead and will be responsible for updating data in the 1GX (ERP) system as assigned. This includes administering pay services to an assigned portfolio with a variety of employment types; including wage, salaried, unionized, non-unionized (opted out and excluded) and management employees. You will assist other payroll staff by entering and verifying payroll transactions during staff shortages or heavy workload periods.

Your responsibilities will be the following (but not exclusive to):

  • Processing payroll documents in the 1GX System for wage and salary employees to meet existing payroll confirmation dates. Responsible for ensuring accurate processing of all data updates to the 1GX system.
  • Administering and interpreting diverse and complex payroll and benefit regulations, and collective agreements. 
  • Performing post-audits on transactions, ensuring that payments are accurate and meet regulatory, legislative and Ministry policies and procedures.
  • Commencing and orienting newly hired Ministry employees on the government payroll system. 
  • Remaining current on all ongoing changes to payroll and benefits administration and processing by reviewing updates to related manuals, production notices, etc.
  • Attending meetings with co-workers, and Team Lead.
  • Raising trouble tickets relating to system and processing problems.

Qualifications

High school diploma and two years of related payroll experience or the equivalent as outlined below.

Preference will be given to the following:

  • Working knowledge of the 1GX payroll system
  • Experience in a unionized payroll environment


Equivalencies:

A one-year related certificate and one-year related experience
