Role Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager, Clinical services, is responsible for overseeing the planning, supervision, and administrative functions of nursing staff in PCBC branches. This position ensures effective coaching and evaluating of nursing staff, whereby the primary responsibility is direct supervision of Medical and Health 2’s. Oversight, tracking, and implementation to meet Provincial Campus Based Centres needs in nursing for in-care status youth, adhering to   provincial alignment and ministerial directives. The Supervisor continually ensures their staff remain current and relevant in their knowledge and practice, providing staff with the necessary skills and knowledge to make informed decisions regarding youth. The Nurse Supervisor will provide hands on support to youth, and be a member of the large multi-disciplinary team who provides services to the youth.  This also includes collaborating with multiple portfolio areas within PCBC to ensure successful alignment of service delivery to the youth. Provincial Campus Based Care serves complex needs youth ages 12-17, aiming to transition them to alternate caregiving arrangements or reintegrate them into the community safely and responsibly. 


As a key member of the team, the Nurse Supervisor will collaborate with Child Intervention practitioners, Child and Youth Care counsellors, therapists, addiction counsellors, Indigenous specialists, and leadership at Provincial Campus-Based Care sites. This position is required to be on-call on a rotational basis.

Qualifications

Minimum Recruitment Standard:


A university degree in Nursing, supplemented by a minimum of three years of related nursing experience.  

 

Must be a regulated member of the appropriate college as required by the Health profession Act.  

 

Preference will be given to those who have the following;

 

  • Experience working with child and youth, mental health, addictions, working with complex needs youth who may exhibit behavioural or emotional difficulties
  • Supervisory experience

 

Experience an knowledge of the following is a asset;

 

  • The trends and treatment needs of the client group.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse Indigenous populations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with regional, departmental and community staff and partners.  
  • A proven ability to work collaboratively with members of non-dominant cultural groups.
  • Highly organized with excellent planning, scheduling, and human resource skills.
  • Experience managing financial and material resources.
  • An ability to lead a group or individual to effectively accomplish a task.
  • Clinical experience to meet the needs of clients that must be evaluated on a regular and frequent basis to ensure efficacy and efficiency of services provided. 
  • Availability to respond to the needs of a 24-hour facility, inclusive of human resource and client related matters as required.
  • Working with Indigenous, multi-cultural, diversity and inclusion agencies and communities.

Hours of Work are Monday to Friday, 36.25 hours per week (full-time). 

 

Role Requirements

 

  • Registered with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta 
  • Possessing a valid Class 5 driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • The ability to travel to all PCBC sites may be required.

 

Pre-employment Checks

 

The final candidate for this position will;

 

  • Undergo an academic verification check,
  • Be required to provide suitable security screening including Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector,
  • Obtain and provide an Intervention Record check (IRC), and,
  • Will provide 2-3 appropriate supervisory references.
