Court Technology Services provides and supports the technology tools to power the court and justice system throughout Alberta.
Role Responsibilities
The Court Technology Services (CTS) Operations area manages, operates, and evolves the Information Management Technology (IMT) infrastructure and productivity tools, and manages the overall provision of technical projects, and technical services including servers, storage, backup services, client device management, application support, network, security, data centres, domain services, service desk, desktop support, Very Important Person (VIP) services, Information Technology (IT) facilities, network closets, and video conferencing services for the Alberta Courts (Court of Appeal, Court of Kings Bench, Court of Justice, and Courts Administration).
The Infrastructure and Domain Services team (part of Court Technology Services Operations) focuses on IT Operations and provides critical support for all Courts IT services hosted in a hybrid model.
As a Network Analyst, you will be reporting to the Manager, Infrastructure and Domain Services, this position delivers technical network analysis, design, implementation, support and operations of IMT services and projects. Work performed will utilize IT Incident, Problem, Change, Project, Service and Capacity Management principles to achieve innovative solutions to a variety of complex problems.
In this position you will work with and receive guidance from a team of analysts within the CTS unit. This position will use its diverse IT expertise to operate independently on assigned work; however, it will receive broad guidance on overall scope of work and assistance on more complex situations. In some instances, the position may be responsible for overseeing the work of a junior position.
As Network Analyst, your primary responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
- Monitoring, operation and maintenance of Microsoft 365 applications, Azure directory and cloud services along with Courts systems to connect to these services.
- Perform evaluation of new technologies and products and may provide second line desktop support.
- Responsible for life cycle management of computer network, services, and storage equipment.
- Provide computer systems related technical expertise to both Court Technology Services and Court Business staff.
- Coordinate maintenance agreements including renewals.
- Provide supporting information for network system procurements.
- You will be required to travel to support both the Calgary and Edmonton Data Centers as well as base and Rural Court House network equipment (as and when required).
- Participate in the on-call rotation and be able to respond to critical or high severity alerts after hours and follow documented steps to address such issues.
An Ideal Candidate will possess:
- Thorough knowledge of computer science concepts and methodologies (software, infrastructure, programming, network and mainframe products, and systems management).
- Knowledge of network routing protocols specifically related to (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP), as well as knowledge of SDWAN, Firewalls, Wi-Fi, 802.1x, and Zero Trust technology.
- Knowledge of Government / Courts IT policies and legislation and an understanding of its application on related assignments.
- Understanding of project management concepts and processes.
- Ability to work well in a team environment, take direction, mentor junior employees and work within deadline constraints is essential.
- Strong communication skills are required to explain IT concepts, consult with stakeholders and provide guidance.

Qualifications
Required:
- University graduation in Computer Science or a related discipline, plus two years of directly related experience is required.
Assets & Preferences:
Expert experience with Microsoft 365 applications is highly desired including:
- 3+ years of Microsoft 365 tenant and application support and administration, including SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, and Azure directory.
- 2+ years of Microsoft Azure cloud computing administration.
- Related supervisory experience will be asset.
- Microsoft certification, Cisco Certification (CCNA, CCNP, and CCIE (preferred)) Fortinet certification, will all be considered assets.
- Experience in public sector network applications will also consider an asset.
- Hands on experience in deploying Thousand eyes, DNAC and SDWAN will be highly desired.
Equivalencies will be considered based on:
- A related two-year diploma in computer technology or a related discipline from a recognized postsecondary institution and four years related experience.
- or a related one-year certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution and five years related experience.

- Some travel will be required on need basis.
Hours of Work: 7.25 hours / 36.25 hours a week.
