Assisted Living and Social Services (ALSS) provides supports for seniors, families, and communities, and helps Albertans access disability services, continuing care, financial supports, affordable housing, services for the homeless, and other social-based programs. Role Responsibilities

The Strategic Data, Analytics and Business Services (SDABS) Branch is seeking a Manager, Strategic Accommodations to lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of accommodation and administrative services across the Ministry.

Reporting to the Director, Emergency Management, Accommodations and Security Services (EMASS), this role is responsible for ensuring that accommodation strategies, facility operations, and administrative services are aligned with Ministry priorities and delivered in a cost-effective, coordinated, and client-focused manner.

This position operates at a ministry level, working across divisions, regions, and agencies to balance operational needs, fiscal constraints, and long-term accommodation requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accommodation Planning: Develop and implement short- and long-term accommodation strategies, ensuring alignment with business goals. Oversee office accommodations for key divisions, including the Deputy Minister’s Office and regional ALSS employees.
  • Collaboration: Work with stakeholders such as Infrastructure, Technology and Innovation, and Public Safety and Emergency Services to ensure a coordinated and integrated approach to accommodation planning.
  • Facilities Management: Manage projects related to lease renewals, renovations, realignments, and expansions of ALSS-occupied spaces.\
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and lead a team of Planning & Facility Support staff to deliver high-quality services in areas such as parking, fleet management, surplus management, tenant services, and telecommunications.
  • Emergency Management: Support the Ministry’s emergency management team by developing facility emergency response plans and risk management strategies.
  • Policy Development: Create and improve policies, procedures, and services to ensure efficient facility operations and customer satisfaction.
  • Budget Oversight: Oversee Department Capital Investment and track budgets for accommodation projects.
  • Governance: Provide timely guidance on complex or sensitive issues, including those with operational or reputational risk.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • University graduation in a related field, supplemented by five years of experience related to policy development, interior design, property management, functional space planning, construction management, and procurement.
  • Related experience or education may be considered as an equivalency on a one for one basis.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Ministry’s mandate, business plan, organizational structure, and related GoA policies, procedures, and project templates.
  • Extensive knowledge of capital and accommodation planning standards, Infrastructure policies, and experience writing policy and procedure documents.
  • Proven ability to interpret and communicate blueprints and architectural drawings.
  • Experience managing multiple projects, prioritizing timelines, and maintaining organization.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, dispute‑resolution, analytical, and interpersonal skills, with a customer‑service focus and the ability to communicate with diplomacy and tact.

Hours of work: 36.25 hours per week, Monday – Friday.
