This position resides in the Ministry of Health under the Acute Care Division, within the Emergency Health Services Branch.
Role Responsibilities
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager to lead a team responsible for shaping government policy on Emergency Health Services (EHS) and pre-hospital care. This role will focus on developing and optimizing clinical standards, performance frameworks, and policies that ensure seamless cross-sector service delivery across the province. The Manager will collaborate with senior policy advisors and work closely with divisions within the Ministry, the Acute Care Division, and the new Acute Care Organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead initiatives to enhance provincial EHS delivery, focusing on system performance standards and reporting.
- Drive the design and optimization of EHS systems to improve service delivery.
- Manage the research, analysis, and implementation of policies and legislation supporting the EHS framework.
- Provide leadership and support to EHS providers, municipalities, and stakeholders to improve practices and achieve EHS goals.
- Promote EHS across the Ministry and Government of Alberta to ensure a highly functioning system.
- Collaborate with other ministries and stakeholders to ensure an effective, collaborative EHS system.
- Oversee staff performance, motivation, and development to ensure team success.
- Develop briefing materials for senior leadership and respond to public and MLA inquiries.
- Advise on system redesign issues and develop strategies to address challenges within the EHS system.

Qualifications
Education and Experience:
A university graduation in Public Administration, Health or Business Administration, supplemented by four (4) years related experience. Related experience or education may be considered as an equivalency on a one for one basis.
Required:
- Understanding of government structure, legislative frameworks, and the application of legislation in the Alberta health care system
- Sound knowledge of health care providers and their roles
- Experience with policy development and multi-stakeholder environments
- In depth knowledge of health system priorities, acute care/EHS including Emergency Medical Services (EMS) delivery, and issues within the political and economic environment
