The Strategy, Support and Integrated Initiatives division provides strategic and integrated policy and project services and functions for Justice.  The division’s focus centers on cross-divisional and cross-ministry projects such as strategic policy initiatives, business transformations and Justice Digital.

If so, the Manager, Modernization Strategy role in the new formed Modernization, IMT and Research branch within the Strategy, Support and Integrated Initiatives Division may just be right for you!

Reporting to the Director, Modernization & IMT, the Manager, Modernization Strategy is responsible for providing leadership and direction to a team of service transformation professionals to ensure system planning and governance of modernization initiatives as well as coordination of transformation initiatives with other divisions and teams across the ministry and the government. 
This position requires familiarity with digital approaches in government services, strong business relationship management and technical skills. 

Key responsibilities for this position:
 

  • Leading the IMT strategic planning and prioritization and facilitating effective management of the digital roadmap in support of ministry modernization objectives.
  • Aligning ministry IMT initiatives with broader government goals of digitization, Red Tape Reduction, IMT policy frameworks, and ministry business plans and mandates.
  • Coordinating with technology and subject matter experts and championing the use of new and innovative digital solutions to deliver on transformation of a range of legacy systems and architectures.
  • Working with stakeholder groups to align priorities, funding, resourcing by maintaining and building open communication channels and providing ongoing updates on progress, risks and costs impacting priority projects.

Qualifications

Requirements: 
 

  • A related university degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration etc..
  • Minimum 4 years related experience (or equivalent as described below).
     

Equivalencies will be considered based on one-year experience for one year of education or one year of education for one year of experience.

Assets: 
 

  • Experience working with information technology systems and architecture within a large organization.
  • Experience maintaining and building IMT programs and mandates, procurement and contract management, financial operations, business plans and policies.
  • Experience translating information technology concepts into strategies and plans. 
  • Experience working with information and data architectures.
  • Awareness of the functioning of courts and other government systems, architecture, and legislative/regulatory requirements.
  • Experience leading or managing teams.

  • 1 Full time permanent position located in Edmonton.
  • Travel will be required.
  • Hours of work: 7.25 hours per day / 36.25 hours per week (Monday – Friday).
