Role Responsibilities
The Ministry of Jobs, Economy Trade and Immigration has an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as Manager, Immigration Information Services!
The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) is an economic immigration program operated by the Economic Immigration Services branch of the Immigration division in Jobs, Economy, Trade and Immigration (JETI) in cooperation with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). AAIP is a key program identified in business plans of the ministry to which it belongs and allows the province to attract and retain foreign workers and entrepreneurs for permanent residence based on Alberta's labour market and economic development priorities.
The Manager, Immigration Information Services leads the delivery of timely, accurate, and high quality information in response to a high volume of complex enquiries. Interest in immigrating to Alberta through the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) remains strong both domestically and internationally and continues to exceed program allocations established by the federal government. As a result, demand for clear, consistent information related to program criteria, application processes, and immigration options is expected to continue increasing. Program decisions are multi faceted and can have significant impacts on applicants and their ability to obtain permanent resident status in Canada.
Reporting to the Director, Alberta Advantage Immigration Program, the Manager is responsible for leading and reinforcing efficiency, quality, and service standards for responses to enquiries received through program area mailboxes, the Action Request Tracking System (ARTS), and other communication channels. The role ensures that statistical reports and analyses are produced on a regular and as needed basis to support informed program and branch level decision making. The position is also responsible for overseeing program related web content, with a particular focus on statistical information and updates. Effective management of online content supports enquiry reduction by diverting and redirecting common questions to existing resources, while also providing timely information and education to internal and external stakeholders.

In your role as Manager, Immigration Information Services you will be responsible for but not limited to:
- Provide leadership and oversight for the branch’s Immigration Information Services function, ensuring timely, accurate, and consistent responses to a high volume of complex enquiries.
- Supervise and support the correspondence unit, including a Program Development Specialist, Program Officers, and Information Service Officers.
- Ensure all correspondence meets established writing standards, quality requirements, and government protocols.
- Oversee the preparation and review of response letters, briefing materials, memoranda, and speaking notes.
- Collaborate with branch managers and cross‑ministry partners to coordinate joint responses and ensure a consistent, integrated approach.
- Monitor, track, and respond to inquiries received through the Minister’s email account and requests from the Minister’s and Deputy Minister’s Offices via the Assistant Deputy Minister’s and Executive Director’s Offices.
- Act as a primary point of contact for ministerial, executive, and sensitive information requests.
- Provide final or near‑final review of materials prior to approval, release, or action.
- Support and oversee statistical analysis related to application volumes, decisions, financial data, and program performance.
- Manage responses to access to information requests, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness.

Qualifications
Requirements:
- University graduation in Public Administration and Economics or a field related to the position, supplemented with four years related experience; or equivalent as described below.

- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education
The following knowledge or experiences are considered as assets:

- Advanced writing and editing skills
- In-depth knowledge of proper English grammar, plain language, and Alberta government writing styles
- Advanced knowledge of ministry programs, policies, legislation, issues, and operational structure
- Extensive understanding of political and policy decision making processes
- Excellent communication skills, organizational skills, research and analytical skills, and tact and diplomacy
- Enhanced knowledge of the Action Request Tracking System (ARTS), AR processes, standards, guidelines, and templates
- Extensive experience in negotiation, liaison, and conflict resolution skills
- Expert knowledge of department records management requirements for Action Requests
- Advanced knowledge of communication theories, including writing, editing, research methodologies, and how language impacts messaging and tone
- Superior knowledge of editorial practices including, semantics, syntax, discourse techniques, etc.
