The Provincial Archives of Alberta is seeking a Manager, Government Records to join its team.
Role Responsibilities
Are you passionate about archival records? The Provincial Archives of Alberta, located in Edmonton, is looking for a dedicated leader to manage archival records of the Government of Alberta. The Provincial Archives is the primary repository for textual, audiovisual, photographic, and other records of enduring value from the Government of Alberta and private individuals and organizations.
As the Manager, Government Records, you'll be integral the acquisition, preservation and provision of access to Government of Alberta archival records. You will lead a talented team of three archivists and three archival technicians, along with various contracted staff and volunteers. Your leadership will ensure we meet all legislative, regulatory, operational, and archival standards.
Responsibilities include:
- Manage archival records: Acquire, preserve, and ensure access to Government of Alberta archival records.
- Lead the Team: Provide leadership and manage human resources to create a positive and safe work environment.
- Drive Projects: Implement project management strategies to complete activities efficiently and effectively.
- Ensure Quality: Maintain quality control and compliance with legislative and operational requirements.

Qualifications
A Master’s degree in Archival Studies, Library and Information Studies, or History with a minimum 2 years related experience is required. In addition to their resume, candidates are asked to include a cover letter that shows how they have demonstrated one of the above competencies in either current or past roles. Equivalencies will be considered.
Equivalency:
Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education

Hours of work are 36.25 hours weekly, Monday to Friday.
