The Ministry Services Division provides enterprise-wide support services for the Department of Energy, and ensures alignment with and adherence to related Government of Alberta-wide policy and direction. As part of the Ministry Services Division, the Business Services Branch provides the following:
- Legislative planning and reporting.
- Coordination of the department’s policy, legislation and agency governance files.
- Coordination of the red tape reduction initiative for the department.
- Facilities, and accommodations services on behalf of the department for both the Edmonton and Calgary offices.
Role Responsibilities
Are you passionate about government planning and reporting? The Ministry Services Division is seeking an agile leader with knowledge on planning and report requirements and project management skills to help deliver on many of the departments key priorities.
Reporting to the Director, Business Planning and Services, this position leads the Energy and Minerals’ business planning and reporting process from beginning to end. The position leads the development and coordination of the Ministry's business plan and annual report,consistent with strategic government direction, as well as performance measure development and evaluation for the Ministry.This position works collaboratively with management from all divisions within the Ministry to effectively lead these priorities. This position provides support to the Strategic Leadership Team by preparing appropriate information for the Ministry’s integrated planning and reporting processes.
Key responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
- Planning and Reporting – development of the business plan, annual report and briefing binders for Committee of Supply and Public Accounts.
- Performance Management and Evaluations – Coordinate and facilitate the development and reporting of performance metrics, related to business planning and reporting. Lead, champion and facilitate the implementation of the department's evaluation framework.
- Leadthe Ministry's Risk Management Process.
- Lead the development and coordination of department business contunity plans.
- Support the Director in achieving Business Planning mandate and goals.
The successful incumbent must employ a high degree of analytical, evaluative and creative thinking skills, and proactively identify issues and recommend options for their resolution. In solving problems, this position will require a strong awareness of the broad outcomes and priorities of the department to ensure issues are addressed in a coordinated and consistent manner. This position requires excellent interpersonal relations skills and the ability to establish and maintain senior level relationships, as well as being aneffective leader by managing a team of two analysts.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Administration, or related subject area, plus a minimum number of four years related experience in business planning and reporting is required.
Related experience or education may be considered as an equivalency on a one-for-one basis.
The following will be considered assets:
- Project management experience.
- Legislative Planning and Reporting experience.
- Performance Measurement and Evaluation experience.
- Supervisory experience.

Working hours are 36.25 per week, Monday to Friday.
Working location is Petroleum Plaza Building North Tower, Edmonton.
