About the Role
As the Manager of Accommodations, you will lead the ministry’s annual Capital Planning Initiative (CPI) submission, working collaboratively with partners across Accommodations, Alberta Infrastructure (INFRA) Capital Planning, and Justice Financial Planning to advance high value, high impact capital project proposals to Treasury Board and Finance. Based in Edmonton and reporting to the Director, Accommodations, you will provide strategic and people leadership to a multidisciplinary team of Senior Accommodation Planners, a Facilities Coordinator, and a Parking & Administration Coordinator. Together, this group drives accommodations planning, service delivery, budget strategy, and long term capital visioning for the ministry.
What You’ll Do
In this role, you will:
- Oversee the full lifecycle of capital planning and capital project development—from early feasibility and business case creation through design, construction, and occupancy.
- Guide the assessment of evolving space requirements and translate them into capital project submissions and annual ministry priorities.
- Direct support services including furniture and equipment planning, office moves, maintenance coordination, and parking administration.
- Lead development of internal parking standards and manage allocations aligned with government policy.
- Strengthen processes, elevate service delivery, and cultivate strong, trust based relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Oversee work completed by external partners such as Infrastructure planners, project managers, furniture vendors, dealers, and consultants.

You have:
- Significant experience leading complex teams and delivering multifaceted projects.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including experience with ARTS submissions, briefing notes, reports, and presentations.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Teams, the Microsoft Office Suite, database systems, and tools that support planning and project delivery.
- A proven track record of meeting timelines and delivering high quality results.
- (Assets) Working knowledge of project management methodologies and AutoCAD.

Qualifications
University graduation in a related field such as Social Sciences, Business Administration or Public Administration/Management, or related discipline, plus a minimum of four years related experience is required.
Equivalencies may be considered:
- A related Masters and two (2) years’ experience; Diploma and six (6) years’ experience.
- A related one-year certificate and seven (7) years’ experience; No post-secondary education and a minimum of eight (8) years’ related experience.
Required:

- Experience supervising or leading staff (formal /informal).
- Experience in Microsoft 365 Suite including (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook).
Assets:
- Demonstrated understanding of how to interpret stakeholder business needs and then translate them into recommendations.
- Experience in negotiation and dispute resolution.
- Experience working and collaborating with diverse groups of people, including facilitating multi-stakeholder groups.
- Experience with qualitative and quantitative research approaches, including data analysis.
- Experience in the government financial/budgets, and planning cycles.
- Experience and knowledge of project management principles, methodologies, processes and techniques.
- Understanding of GoA (Government of Alberta) procurement and contracting processes is considered an asset.
Candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered at a lower classification and salary.

Hours of work: Monday – Friday, 8:15 am - 4:30 pm (36.25/week).
