The Alberta Emergency Management Agency (AEMA), under the authority of the Emergency Management Act, leads the coordination and co-operation of all organizations involved in emergencies and disasters. This includes emergency and disaster prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery.
The Alberta Emergency Management Agency (AEMA) is accountable and responsible to the GoA, to Albertans, to their communities, and to industry for the protection of people, their property, and the environment from the effects of emergency events. Alberta relies on a decentralized “system” for managing the various types of emergency events that occur every year. The AEMA accomplishes its objectives by leading the co-ordination, collaboration and co-operation between all entities involved in prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery activities within this diverse system.

Role Responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager, Logistics Readiness, the Logistics Readiness Officers (LROs) play a pivotal role in enhancing the ability to proactively plan and effectively respond to emergencies and disasters through timely and cost-effective procurement, distribution, and maintenance of resources, ensuring that personnel, equipment, and supplies are ready and available.
You will be responsible for:
- Evaluating and making recommendations to the Manager, Logistics Readiness
- Maintaining and assessing the integrity of records for resource status
- Developing and maintaining standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Supporting the Manager and working with respective areas to achieve compliance
- Procuring and maintaining supply of AEMA clothing that are compliant with the AEMA and GoA Visual Identity policies and standards
- Maintaining current inventory of AEMA attractive assets and managing procurement and deployment of same
- Assisting the Manager, Logistics Readiness with executing, monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Conducting analysis and providing briefings of logistics operation trends, past performance, and forecast demand to support management decision-making
Decisions made by the Logistics Readiness Officers have a direct and immediate impact on the day-to-day operations of Logistics Support and the PECC Logistics Section and may indirectly impact performance and customer relationships.

Qualifications
Required: University degree in Business Administration, Public Administration or related, PLUS 2 years progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent.
Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of 1 year of education for 1 year of experience, or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education
For Example:
- Related 1 year certificate PLUS a minimum 5 years of experience
- Related 2-year diploma PLUS a minimum 4 years of experience

The successful candidate MUST also have:
- Knowledge and understanding of best practices for policy development, monitoring, and evaluation
- Knowledge and understanding of government business plans, structures, operations, and reporting relationships
- Knowledge of and experience with planning, procurement, and project management practices
- Demonstrate project and time management skills
- Political acumen
- Demonstrated abilities in client service, continuous improvement, and innovation
- Strong interpersonal communication and relationship management to consult and negotiate with suppliers, vendors, other stakeholders who have varying perspectives, expectations, and priorities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to develop written materials, analysis, and delivery of information to internal and external stakeholders
Assets:
- Emergency management training or experience
- Experience developing and giving training presentations

Term of Employment: Permanent x 2
Hours of Work: 36.25 hours per week
Location: Edmonton
This position may be required to work in the Provincial Emergency Coordination Centre or on field assignment as needed during emergencies in order to coordinate provincial emergency response efforts. In these circumstances, the position may require working extended and irregular hours and/or shifts with minimal or no notice.
Final candidates may be required to undergo a security screening.
