Role Responsibilities

The Licensing Officer will be responsible for contributing to the department's business plan to promote a fair marketplace by providing information to the public and business community regarding various types of provincial business licenses.

Reporting to the Senior Licensing Officer, you will be responsible for:

  • Reviewing, processing new, and renewal applications in accordance with the Consumer Protection Act, Cemeteries Act, Charitable Fund-Raising Act, and the regulations associated with these acts.
  • Maintaining license and registration files by ensuring supporting documentation is updated appropriately when processing change requests.
  • Providing information to the public regarding licensing requirements, contract requirements, security instruments, and fee amounts.

  • Exceptional knowledge of licensing requirements and standards, with the ability to interpret and apply this knowledge to provide accurate, efficient licensing services and facilitate effective access to licensing information.
  • The ability to work with increasing independence and minimal direct supervision.
  • A high degree of analytical ability and strong time management skills.
  • The ability to prioritize, multitask, and operate as a proven self-starter.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively manage inquiries and client requests.

Qualifications

High school diploma and three years of related administrative experience in an administrative customer service and/or call center setting.

 

Equivalencies may be considered:

Diploma and a minimum of one (1) year’s related experience, Certificate and a minimum of two (2) year’s related experience.

 

Required:

  • Exceptional knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 with special emphasis on MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.

 

Assets:

  • Experience interpreting and applying knowledge of licensing requirements and standards.
  • Experience providing accurate, efficient licensing services and effective access to licensing information.
  • Experience in contract or document review.
  • Experience working in Consumer Affairs Tracking System (CATS).
  • Experience working in Corporate Registry System (CORES).
  • Experience using Softphone technology like CXOne or VOIP.
  • Experience in client relationship management systems like ServiceNow.

Notes

Hours of work: Monday to Friday, 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (36.25 hours/week)

 

Location: Commerce Place Building, 10155 – 102 Street, Edmonton, Alberta T5J 4G8.

 

Type of position: One (1) permanent and one (1) temporary salaried with an expected end date of one year.
