The Alberta Crown Prosecution Service (ACPS) prosecutes persons charged with Criminal Code, Youth Criminal Justice Act, and provincial statute offences. The ACPS promotes safe communities by vigorously prosecuting cases involving serious and violent crime and working with individuals and organizations in the community to identify and implement improved and alternative approaches to the administration of criminal justice. In addition, the ACPS develops criminal law policy for the province and supports criminal law consultation with other levels of government.

Role Responsibilities
Are you looking for a great opportunity to provide support for the prosecution of criminal and provincial offences? The Edmonton Crown Prosecution Office is looking for a highly organized individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide legal and administrative support to Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutors.
Your key responsibilities will include:

Preparing general correspondence

Compiling reports
-
Preparing briefing notes
-
Assigning and tracking opinion memoranda

Preparing agendas and minutes
-
Coordinating daily schedules of management

Managing and controlling criminal files to ensure cases heard in King’s Bench Appearance Court are accounted for.

Providing scheduling backup to the Administrative Coordinator

Scheduling meetings with stakeholders
-
Maintaining documentation for applications
As the ideal candidate you will possess:

Qualifications
Two- year Diploma in a related field such as a legal assistant, paralegal, or criminology, plus a minimum of one year progressively related experience working in a legal administrative role within an office setting.
Equivalencies will be considered:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education
Required
- Experience working with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) is required to prepare statistical reports tables and schedules.
Assets
- Experience working with Adobe, JOIN, ARTS, Criminal Code of Canada and FOIP legislation are considered assets.
- Experience working in a legal environment and/or Executive Assistant experience is preferred.
Candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered at a lower classification and salary.

The Hours of Work are Mon-Fri from 8:15am- 4:30 pm. In office.
