Role Responsibilities

As a Legal (Land) Administrator, you will be responsible for supporting the effective and compliant management of Alberta’s public lands by performing a range of administrative and legal tasks. Your role is essential in ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to relevant legislation and guidelines.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and process various applications related to land use dispositions in accordance with established policies and regulatory frameworks.
  • Examine and verify legal documentation to ensure compliance with public land regulations and accuracy in content.
  • Assist with the administration of cancellations, reinstatements, and reclamation of land dispositions, ensuring proper documentation and approvals are in place.
  • Conduct financial assessments related to land use applications, fees, and associated costs.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the public land registry and ensure stakeholders have access to required information.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to provide guidance, respond to inquiries, and ensure clarity in application processes.
  • Ensure all disposition activities adhere to relevant legislation, policies, and procedures to support responsible land use and environmental stewardship.
  • Independently manage daily tasks, set priorities, and meet deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Qualifications

Required:

  • The minimimum recruitment standard for this role is a one-year certificate in Land Administration, Land Analyst, Legal Assistant or a related field.
  • 1 year of related experience.

 

Equivalency: Related education or experience may be considered on the basis of one year of education for one year of experience or vice versa.

 

Assets:

  • A strong understanding of relevant legislation, regulations, and policies.
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately assess and process complex paperwork.
  • Proficiency in performing calculations and maintaining financial records.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, particularly in addressing unique or non-routine situations.
  • Effective communication is key, as candidates will interact with various stakeholders, department staff, and the public.

Notes

Hours of Work: 36.25 hours per week from Monday to Friday.

 

Two temporary positions (1-year term) available in Edmonton.
