Role Responsibilities

As a member of the Employment Connections service team, you will share responsibility for supporting Albertans whose employment was impacted by tariffs. This includes assisting Albertans towards realizing their action plan goals, through the connection to employment skills training or other support services.
In this role, you will frequently interact with clients by telephone, complete assessments, and utilize several computer applications and systems simultaneously. You will monitor and support Albertans while they participate in training interventions. In order to be successful in this role, you will need to be able to connect to clients, have knowledge of the programs and services offered by Jobs, Economy, Trade and Immigration and other Government of Alberta ministries and be skilled in assessment, critical thinking, conflict resolution and active listening.
Responsibilities involve the following:
- Assessing client’s needs, referring them to appropriate interventions and documenting interactions in multiple computer systems.
- Advising clients of their training and support options.
- Supporting contracted service providers who provide training and employment programs to Albertans.
- Approving requests for training.
- Providing training to contracted service providers.
- Collaborating with Contract Services Coordinators to ensure successful delivery of contracted programs.
You will work in collaboration with a team of professionals providing service to Albertans. This position also involves the ability to work with Albertans in distress and utilize problem-solving and de-escalation techniques to assist individuals with appropriate intervention resources.

Qualifications
University graduation in Social Science Public Administration, Business, Public Policy, Economic Development related field plus two years of progressive experience including is required; or equivalent as described below.
Equivalency: Directly related education or experience is considered on the basis of one year of education for one year of experience or one year of experience for one year of education.

- Strong Communication Skills: Ability to communicate diplomatically, tactfully, and assertively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Competent in Microsoft programs, such as Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, database and Internet skills.
- Attention to Detail: Proven ability to manage documents and data with high accuracy.
- Organizational Skills: Skilled at handling multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Working knowledge of contracted training programs providing services to Albertans.
- Experience assisting individuals with complex needs in complex circumstances.
- Previous experiencing assessing individuals for training and employment programs.

Notes
There are four (4) temporary (ends March 31, 2028) and four (4) temporary wage (ends March 31, 2027) full-time positions working 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
This position is based in Edmonton.
