The Alberta Public Service works to build a stronger province for current and future generations. We make a difference in the lives of Albertans through rewarding and diverse career opportunities.

Technology and Innovation is responsible for making innovation and technology the driving force behind Alberta’s economic growth and diversification.

The Digital Design and Delivery (DDD) division is the Government of Alberta’s centre of digital delivery. It partners with ministries to design simpler, faster, and better services; build capability and confidence in modern digital practices; and assure service quality and value through standards and controls. Multidisciplinary product teams are assigned priority GoA projects and employ an agile, product-oriented approach in providing solutions for ministry partners.

Within DDD, the Software Delivery Branch provides architectural leadership, CloudOps, DevOps practices, quality engineering, and software delivery excellence across product and platform teams. The Digital Architect plays a key role in shaping how digital solutions are designed, evolved, and governed, balancing innovation with reliability, security, and public sector responsibility.

Role Responsibilities

The Software Delivery branch is looking for six (6) Junior Full Stack Developers (FSD). Reporting to the Director, Software Development, this role supports the team in the design and implementation of software with a focus on iterative, continuous development, where requirements and solutions evolve through collaboration between cross-functional teams and users.

This role explicitly requires AI capability, creating systems with AI as a co-developer.  So, we are seeking developers who can build, integrate, and optimize AI-driven solutions in addition to traditional front-end and back-end development.

The responsibilities of this role include:

  • Develop and maintain front-end and back-end solutions, including AI-enabled features and digital services.
  • Collaborate with agile teams, stakeholders, and users to design, build, and improve digital products.
  • Contribute to backlog planning, effort estimation, and the delivery of high-quality software features.
  • Apply development best practices, including testing, code reviews, CI/CD automation, and source control.
  • Research emerging technologies and AI tools to identify opportunities for innovation and service improvement.
  • Provide technical support and recommendations while communicating solutions effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

To be successful in this position, you will demonstrate:

  • Ability to self-learn a variety of software tools.
  • Ability to keep up with industry standards and new tools or resources.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
