Role Responsibilities

As the Traffic Safety Services (TSS) Issues Coordinator, you will be responsible for the ongoing coordination of divisional correspondence, opportunity management, and support for the daily operations of the TSS Assistant Deputy Minister’s office (ADMO). The ADMO is a dynamic, results-orientated office that requires the Issues Coordinator to perform at an exceptional standard.

 

You will play a critical role in ensuring the Assistant Deputy Minister (ADM), Deputy Minister, and Minister receive timely, concise, and accurate communications on current and emerging opportunities and that communications contain input from all affected areas including other divisions and Ministries.

 

Your responsibilities include (but are not limited to):


•    Coordinating communication and workflow between internal stakeholders, including senior leadership, to support top-down and bottom-up requests across the division.
•    Supporting the Divisional Manager Operations/Issues Manager in coordinating, facilitating, developing, and managing internal communications for the Assistant Deputy Minister's Office.
•    Reviewing and editing documents (e.g., briefing notes, correspondence, slide decks, policy documents) to ensure alignment with government messaging, priorities, and quality standards.
•    Following up with stakeholders on behalf of the ADM to ensure timely completion of briefings and deliverables.
•    Assessing situations independently to determine urgency, impact, and appropriate escalation.
•    Facilitating approvals for divisional deliverables and high-priority ministry initiatives.
•    Responding to inquiries from the Deputy Minister’s Office using comprehensive knowledge of departmental programs and timelines.
•    Developing and maintaining tracking tools and lean processes that support timely, high-quality deliverables and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Requirements:


•    A related university degree (e.g., Business, Public Administration, Communications, Social Sciences, Administration, etc.), supplemented by at least two (2) years of related experience.
•    Excellent research, proofreading and editorial skills.
•    Strong time management and organizational skills to handle multiple priorities with varying scale and urgency.

 

Equivalencies:


•    A related two-year diploma from a recognized postsecondary institution and minimum of four (4) years related experience; or
•    A related one-year certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution and minimum of five (5) years related experience; or
•    Six (6) years related experience.

 

Assets:


•    Proficient with Action Request Tracking System (ARTS) and SharePoint.
•    Experience in change management, process improvement practices, and Lean Six Sigma.
•    Familiarity with Traffic Safety issues in Alberta.
•    Experience developing administrative policies and processes.
•    Previous experience in issues management.
•    Experience in project management.
