Alberta Infrastructure is responsible for leading the development of the provincial Capital Plan, which addresses the provincial infrastructure needs of Alberta’s population that support key social programs and services and economic development.
The Ministry designs, builds, manages, and maintains government-owned and operated facilities, and collaborates with other ministries to ensure that school and hospital infrastructure meet the needs of Alberta’s population. Infrastructure also provides accommodation services and manages a large portfolio of owned and leased facilities while maintaining fiscal accountability and optimizing value for Albertans.

Role Responsibilities
The Inventory Data Advisor plays a key role in providing asset inventory data to support both daily operations and long-term planning. This includes distributing timely, accurate information to relevant audiences, and ensuring clear and consistent communication.
As the primary steward of inventory data, the advisor manages data for quality, supports governance practices, and contributes to the maintenance and improvement of inventory systems. The role also involves preparing reports, visualizations, briefing notes, and responses to action requests. Through training and collaborative engagement, the advisor enables teams to effectively interpret and integrate inventory data into their business activities.
The primary responsibilities for the Inventory Data Advisor include, but are not limited to:
- Gather, compile, and organize inventory data from multiple sources to produce accurate and consistent reporting.
- Develop and maintain automated reporting tools and business intelligence solutions (e.g. dashboards, scheduled reports, and interactive visualizations).
- Prepare briefing notes, reports, and responses to action requests for senior officials and stakeholders.
- Establish and maintain data policies, standards, and procedures to ensure accuracy, consistency, and seamless distribution.
- Create process maps and documentation to support consistent workflows and standardization.
- Identify and resolve data discrepancies by collaborating with internal and external teams.
- Develop and maintain up-to-date guidelines, procedures, and technical documentation to support the understanding and use of data.
- Design and deliver training sessions, materials, and resources to build data literacy and promote consistent use of asset inventory data across teams.
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of asset inventory systems and databases to meet operational needs, establish effective workflows, support data management and data dissemination capabilities.

Qualifications
Required:
- University graduation in data and information systems, analytics, math, public/business administration, asset management or related discipline.
- Four years of directly related experience.
Equivalency: Related experience or education (e.g. related diploma) may be considered as an equivalency on the basis of one year of education for one year of experience or vice versa.

This position is a Permanent, full-time role with the standard weekly work hours of 36.25, Monday to Friday (8:15 am – 4:30 pm) in Edmonton, Alberta.
