Executive Council works to ensure effective strategic planning and coordinated policy development and communications across government, engages Albertans and the broader global community, and promotes a vibrant and innovative public service. In addition to policy, protocol, communications and Cabinet functions, Executive Council includes Intergovernmental and International Relations, which develops strategies on issues of importance to Alberta and Canada - with its international partners, clients, and stakeholders – to address challenges and grow opportunities. This unit also coordinates Alberta’s leadership and participation within the Canadian federation in pursuit of a federal system that best serves the needs of Albertans and Canadians.

Role Responsibilities
Join Alberta’s Office in Ottawa and help shape how the province engages with the federal government and eastern Canada. This role provides timely policy insight, supports senior-level missions, and strengthens Alberta’s presence and relationships across Canada.
You will monitor and analyze federal political and policy developments, prepare briefings for senior leaders, and support high-profile visits and missions. You will build and maintain relationships with government and industry stakeholders, contribute to advocacy strategies, and support events and engagements that promote Alberta’s interests.

Qualifications
A university degree in public administration, law, political science, or a related field supplemented by a minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in public policy, government relations, or public administration.
Additional requirements include:
- Strong understanding of Canadian political systems, federal-provincial relations, and current affairs
- Experience conducting research, analysis, and preparing briefings or reports for senior leaders
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Strong judgment, political awareness, and ability to handle sensitive information
The following are considered assets:
- Experience working with or within federal or provincial government
- Knowledge of Alberta’s key economic sectors and intergovernmental priorities
- Experience supporting senior officials (e.g., Ministers, Executives)
- Bilingualism (English and French)
- Experience coordinating events, missions, or stakeholder engagements

Notes
This is a temporary full-time contract position. Final Candidates for this position will be asked to undergo a security screening. Candidates may be asked to complete a written assessment.

Positions will be located in the Federal building located at 9820 107 Street NW, Edmonton
This is a full-time temporary position working 7.25 hours per day / 36.25 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
