The Residential Tenancy Dispute Resolution Service (RTDRS) is a quasi-judicial tribunal that offers landlords and tenants a method of resolving disputes under the jurisdiction of the Residential Tenancies Act and the Mobile Home Sites Tenancies Act without going to court. The service is faster, less expensive and less formal than the courts. Hearings result in a binding and enforceable order. The RTDRS is a busy, fast-paced environment providing excellent service to Albertans.

Role Responsibilities

Key components to this position include providing complete, accurate and timely information as it relates to the Residential Tenancies Act (RTA), Mobile Home Sites Tenancies Act (MHSTA) (and associated regulations), follow RTDRS processes and the Rules of Practice and Procedures (RPP) and process documents related to the hearing application process.

 

You will be responsible for:

  • Providing complete, accurate and timely information to the public, internal and external stakeholders by way of telephone, electronic mail, fax or written correspondence.
  • Processing hearing applications and incoming documents utilizing your attention to detail including reviewing documents, accepting payment, scheduling hearings, filing documents with the Court of King’s Bench, etc.
  • Assisting the public and other stakeholders.
  • Liaising with the courts and other department/outside agencies to ensure the smooth and timely flow of documentation through legal system.
  • Conducting administrative duties, which will include compiling, maintaining data and files, assisting in assigned projects and other ancillary functions.

Qualifications

High school diploma and three years of related experience.

 

Equivalency:

A related two-year diploma and one (1) year of related experience; a related one-year certificate and two (2) years of related experience; or a related degree. 

 

Preference will be given to candidates who have the following:

Knowledge of Residential Tenancies Act, Mobile Home Sites Tenancies Act and related regulations and the ability to accurately interpret pertinent acts, regulations and RTDRS policies and procedures. 

Knowledge of provincial regulations such as Protection of Privacy Act (POPA), Civil Enforcement Act, and other legislation related to landlord and tenant matters.

Experience with Microsoft Office.

Customer Service experience.

Experience working in a fast paced and high-volume environment.

Notes

One (1) full-time Permanent and One Full-time Temporary (18 months) position available.

 

These positions report 36.25 hours of work per week, Monday to Friday. 

 

This position is located at 10044-108 Street, Edmonton.
