Role Responsibilities
Do you have genuine interest working with children with disabilities experiencing complex medical challenges/needs? If you are, then we would like to hear from you.
The Rosecrest Home provides 24/7 services for 18 children and youth who permanently reside at the facility; in addition, offers out of home respite care for up to 9 children and youth that are physically disabled with complex medical needs. In this position, you will provide a friendly, supportive, and caring environment for these vulnerable children. Under supervision of Registered Nurse, you will be involved in providing personal care, grooming, activities/outings/medical appointments, administering medications, delegated practices by regulated staff, attending appointments, preparing meals, managing resident's funds and undertaking general housekeeping responsibilities. In addition you will be responsible for ongoing documentation that includes written communication as well as electronic communication.
You will be committed to providing high quality care to enable our children to experience an optimum quality of life. Also, you will be required to follow policies and procedures, maintain records and complete reports. This role requires one to demonstrate professionalism, take initiative, have excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and have a strong commitment to work in a team setting, ensuring a positive healthy and respectful work environment.

Qualifications
Required:
• High school diploma and minimum 6 months of experience working in group living, residential care or related care setting
• Equivalencies: Equivalencies will be considered on the basis of 1 year of related education for 1 year of experience.
Assets:
• Post-secondary education in a related field, and current and/or previous experience
• Health Care Aide designation
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities
• Experience with G tube feeding
• Experience with suctioning
• Experience administering medications
• Experience completing and maintaining documentation/records for individuals
• Experience supporting activities and outings for individuals
• Experience with personal care/lifting and lifts/transferring/wheelchairs/mobility assistance
• Current, up-to-date Canadian First Aid Certification is highly recommended
• Food Safe Certification is highly recommended.
The job requires a high level of physical fitness due to non-ambulatory and fully dependent population being served. Lifting and transferring of children is part of the regular daily duties. The successful candidate(s) must be able to work all shifts including days, afternoons, awake overnights, weekends and called in on short notice.

Notes
• Hours of work are 38.75 hours weekly; wages to be paid for only hours worked.

• These positions involve shift work and will require lifting and moving of individuals and equipment.
• The successful candidate(s) must be able to work all shifts including days, afternoons, awake overnights, weekends and called in on short notice if needed.
• This role requires that you have a valid Class 5 Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle.
• Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada. A current work visa is required.
• Final candidates will be required to undergo a security screening. Any costs associated with obtaining the required documents/checks as noted or interview travel expenses, will be the responsibility of the candidate.
