Appeals Commission 
  
The Appeals Commission consists of four distinct business units established under Section 13.1(1) of the Workers Compensation Act: an administrative tribunal (the Tribunal), an employer and worker advisory service (the Advisor Office), a branch that convenes panels to answer medical questions posed by the Workers’’ Compensation Board (WCB) or Appeals Commission (Medical Panels Program), and an administrative support unit (the Secretariat).

Role Responsibilities

Bring your technical coordination, data integrity, and customer‑focused IT skills to a role that directly supports the Appeals Commission’s mission.

Reporting to the Director, Appeals Secretariat, the IT Business Coordinator will assist the Secretariat IT Team in maintaining the integrity, accuracy and segregation of the data to ensure readiness for a new Appeals Commission Case. This includes the Advisor Office (Worker Advisor Branch and Employer Branch), Medical Panel Program and Tribunal. 

The position provides system support to users, conducts regular data audits and quality assurance reviews, prepares and validate reports and performance measures, distributing approved statistics and performance information to the applicable program areas. 

Key responsibilities includes the following but not limited to:

 

  • Data clean-up in anticipation of the new Appeals Commission Case Management System.
  • Statistics & Reporting Coordination.
  • Quality Assurance.
  • General Administrative and Support Duties.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma and three years of related experience. 


Equivalency:

  • Directly related experience or education considered on the basis of: one year of experience for one year of education or one year of education for one year of experience.

 

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and competencies:

 

  • Completion of a recognized post‑secondary program in business administration, information systems, computer applications, or a related field.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced features in Word, Excel (pivot tables, lookups, data validation), and PowerPoint.
  • Experience providing functional system support for case management or workflow‑based systems, including user assistance and first‑level troubleshooting.
  • Training and experience with SharePoint, online portals, or website content management systems (CMS).
  • Experience coordinating system changes, including preparing RFC/RFS documentation and supporting UAT/testing activities.
  • Excellent documentation skills, with experience creating and updating templates, forms, business letters, and process guidelines.
  • Experience performing data quality audits and validating reporting metrics to ensure accuracy and alignment with business rules.
  • Proficiency with PDF tools (e.g., Adobe Acrobat, Nitro, or similar) for form creation, editing, and document preparation.
  • Experience working with external vendors or IT partners to support system updates, website changes, or maintenance activities.
  • Strong customer service orientation with effective communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to learn new systems and tools quickly and adapt to changing processes, priorities, or release cycles.
  • Experience working in a multi‑program, customer‑focused, or service delivery environment.
