These positions reside in the Ministry of Health under the Acute Care Division, within the Quality Planning & Performance Programs Branch, Emergency Health Services Branch, and Continuing Care Division, Licensing and Compliance Monitoring Branch.
Role Responsibilities: Health Compliance Consultant

Key Responsibilities include:
- Policy Development: Craft operational policies that align with legislative requirements and industry best practices in licensing and compliance monitoring.
- Policy Research & Analysis: Conduct in-depth research and analyze clinical outcomes data to inform operational policies, decisions and provide valuable policy feedback to Licensing and Compliance Monitoring Branch.
- Training & Development: Create and maintain a comprehensive training matrix and curriculum to empower branch staff with the necessary knowledge, skills, and resources. This includes curating essential literature and concepts from leading experts in care facility licensing.
- Risk Assessment & Monitoring: Design and implement risk-based assessments and compliance monitoring tools that facilitate high-quality data collection and support effective auditing practices.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for enhancement in regulatory monitoring and develop strategies to foster consistency in training and mentoring initiatives.
- Project Leadership: Lead, plan, and evaluate major health compliance projects while coordinating cross-government initiatives to drive regulatory excellence.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Collaborate with other branches and divisions within AH, and Health Legal teams to offer legislative and policy interpretations to operators and inspectors, ensuring clarity and compliance in health care operations.

Role Responsibilities: Provincial Program Specialist
The Provincial Program Specialist provides technical advice and knowledge to support the Ministry's acute care commitments.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating on research, policy, and strategy development to align with acute care priorities.

Health Compliance Consultant: University degree related to the position assignment (Nursing, Physiotherapy, Occupational therapy) and four (4) years of related experience. Current registration in good standing with an Alberta professional college is required.
Preference will be given to candidates who have the following experience:
- Strong policy research and analysis background
- Strong Educational programs’ design and delivery
- Clinical practice knowledge with a focus in continuing care sector, quality care, client centered care, and quality of life
- Knowledge of Alberta’s health and social care system
Acute Care Division, Quality Planning & Performance Programs Branch
Provincial Program Specialist: University degree related to the position assignment (Nursing, Health Sciences, or Public Health) and four (4) years of related experience. Current registration in good standing with an Alberta professional college is required.
Preference will be given to the following individuals:
- Proven experience in health policy development, acute care management, or a related area.
- Clinical practice knowledge with a focus in quality care, client centered care, quality of life.
- Familiarity with the Alberta health care system and acute care priorities.
Acute Care Division, Emergency Health Services Branch
Emergency Health Services Specialist: University Degree in a related field (EMS, Public Safety, Medical, Reg. Health Provider), plus four (4) years of recent related experience as a registered healthcare provider. Equivalences will be considered.
*Valid AB Driver’s license (provincial travel is required).
* Registered paramedic with the Alberta College of Paramedics
Preference will be given to the following individuals:
- Registered paramedic with the Alberta College of Paramedics
- 3-5 years of progressively more complex management and leadership responsibilities. Strong understanding of Alberta healthcare legislation in the application of inspections, investigations, compliance and monitoring.
- Diverse clinical experience as a regulated healthcare provider.
- Prior automotive/mechanic experience and knowledge is considered an asset.
